Savings Program:
Eligibility for Benefit: Age 55, death prior to age 55, or total and permanent disability.
Contributions: 3.7% of covered wages by the employer, and 2.0% by the employee or 5.7% of
total contribution covered wages by the employer.
Life Insurance:
Eligibility for Benefit: Death before the age of 55, provided the death did not result from an
employment-related accident or disease.
Benefit: A lump sum of IDR 10 million plus a funeral expense benefit amounting to
IDR 2 million. The beneficiary will also receive a regular monthly allowance of
IDR 200,000 for the period of 24 months.
Workers’ Compensation:
Eligibility for Benefit: Death or disability (either temporary or permanent) resulting from an
employment-related accident or disease.
Benefits: Medical care reimbursement, temporary disability income benefit, lump sum
permanent disability benefit, death benefit with funeral expense benefit,
rehabilitation expenses, and employment-related disease benefit.
Contributions: 0.24% to 1.74% of covered wages by the employer, depending upon the
company's industrial risk classification.
Medical Benefit:
Eligibility for Benefit: Employees and their dependents (up to a maximum of three).
The Pension Fund Law requires that benefits be paid as an annuity after a
possible lump sum payment equal to 20% of the value of the benefit. When
total benefits payable are less than IDR 50 million, lump sum payment is
possible for both the Financial Institution Pension Fund and for the Employer
Pension Fund.
Retirement Plans:
Eligibility: All full-time employees at least 18 years of age or married with one year of
service.
Benefit: Defined Benefit: One to two and a half months' salary per year of service.
Salary is frequently the average salary over the last 12-36 months of service.
Survivors’ Benefits: Widow or widower and orphans’ benefits before and after
retirement.
Vesting: 100% after three years of participation for an Employer Pension Fund and
immediate vesting for a Financial Institution Pension Fund.
Employee Contribution: Generally none for an Employer Pension Fund and 1% - 5% for a Financial
Institution Pension Fund.
Death Benefit: Usually 12-36 months' salary, in some cases, reduced by the Social Security
death benefit.
Medical: Practice varies widely, from 100% reimbursement of employee and dependent
medical expenses, to a flat monthly medical allowance. Usually self-insured,
but larger companies and multinationals may have insured hospital/surgical
and major medical plans. Benefit levels usually vary based on job
classification.
