Unit 2 essay

In this essay I will discuss how people from a long time ago grew their villages to
towns to cities. I will also discuss why they stopped moving. Some other topics I will
discuss is what does a village need to start and keep growing. Another topic I will
discuss is what tools did they use for farming.

Villages need something to get them going into a village and not just a group that
keeps moving from place to place. A village needs a stable food supply to start it. Then
it needs to use that food carefully so they do not run out of food fast. So they harvested
the food and then they used the water that they could use to water the crops. This water
came from flooding that could be predicted because it came at the same time every
year. The people in the village prepared for the flood and they wait for the flood to leave
then when it is gone the soil needs the seeds so it can grow into the food they need.

The first farming began in the fertile crescent because the fertile crescent had
rivers that flooded at a certain time so the flooding rivers deposited mud that made the
land suitable to farm on. These people used plows that animals pulled for farming and
making the soil suitable for farming. The animals pulled the plow and the soil got flipped.
So when the seeds are in the ground they put the soil back where the animal flipped it
and they waited for the crops to grow. Then they used the food to feed the village or
town and they fed their families.

People from a long time ago moved from one place to the other that is call
nomadic people. Nomadic people never settled because they always ran out of
materials so they could not stay in one place for long. Then they found a way to have a
stable food supply. The people who found the food turned it into several other types of
foods so they can have a variety of foods. Now after they found the food they do not
need to move to find food because it is right there. So then the small groups turned into
villages. Then the villages turned into towns with stores and horses are used to travel.
Then the towns turned into cities which had banks and stores and they had carriages to
travel. This all came up because the first people found food that made them stay in one
place.
