The manual introduces the pinouts of the cables for low-end-and-mid-range routers.
You can use this manual along with the related installation manual and interface card
and module manual.
There are six chapters in the manual.
Chapter 1 Specifications of Ethernet Cable introduces the pinouts of

straight-through cable and crossover cable.
Chapter 2 Specifications of Serial Cable introduces the pinouts of Console port

cable, AUX port cable, sync/async serial cable, 4SA conversion cable and 8AS/16AS
cable.
Chapter 3 Specifications of E1/T1 Cable introduces the pinouts of E1 cable, 4E1

1.2 Category 5 Twisted Pair

Category 5 twisted pair is composed of eight cores that are identified and grouped by
the color of insulation layer. Usually a unicolor wire and the white/unicolor wire for it are
in pairs.

Note:
The above table can be used as reference while distinguishing or preparing the two
kinds of Ethernet cables. While preparing the Ethernet cables, please follow the
chromatogram given in the table above to arrange the wires. Otherwise communication
quality will be affected even though the two pieces of equipment at both ends are
connected.

2.1 Console Cable

Console cable is used for the connection to a Console port, and its pinouts are as
follows:

2.2 AUX Cable

AUX cables are used for the connection to AUX ports or ports on some asynchronous
interface cards and interface modules, SIC-3AS/8ASE/16ASE, for example. The AUX
cable pinouts are as follows:

2.3 Sync/Async Serial Interface Cable

At present, two types of sync/async serial cables are provided:
z The first type is the sync/async serial cable used to connect the DB-50 connector
at the router side, and it falls into V.24 DTE/DCE, V.35 DTE/DCE, X.21 DTE/DCE,
RS449 DTE/DCE and RS530 DTE, in which only V.24 DTE/DCE and V.35
DTE/DCE are supported by 2SA/4SA/2S1B module and SIC-1SA interface card,
while all of the cables belonging to this type are supported by AR 18-1x series
routers.
z The second type is the sync/async serial cable used to connect the DB-28
connector at the router side, and it mainly connects 2SAE/4SAE/8SAE enhanced
interface module. This type of cable falls into V.24 DTE/DCE, V.35 DTE/DCE.
X.21 DTE/DCE, RS449 DTE/DCE, RS530 DTE/DCE.
The two types can not replace each other.

If you want to connect Modem using some interfaces of 8AS/16AS cable (Dumb
terminal cable), you can refer to the following connection method:

The cable sequence of the dumb terminal cable is different from that of the AUX cable,
so you must use a conversion cable between the dumb terminal cable and the AUX
cable. You can make the conversion cable by yourself. The following shows the pinouts
of the cable.
