Primary purpose of job

1. Supervises co-ordinates and participates in the activities ofsubordinate Technicians in the routine electrical
maintenance,overhaul and breakdown repair of the 33 KV, 11KV, 3.3KV and 415Vdistribution network system, including all
associated switchgearand control systems within Gas Distribution Stations.2. Equipment and plant includes Emergency
Diesel generators, Ex HT& LT motors, transformers, lighting systems, H.V. motors, firewaterpumps, motor operated valve
actuator system, Protective relays, UPSsystem and rectifier or Battery chargers, cathodic protectionare implemented, as
well as assisting in the development ofimproving ongoing and future preventative maintenance.3. Ensures the SAP
generated preventative maintenance programmestransformers or systems etc.5. Ensures that subordinate technicians
strictly follow QP's safety4. The job exists to provide efficient and quality maintenance offor ensuring that safe working
procedure is strictly complied with,switches are properly isolated, ladders properly secured, warningnotices posted
etc.procedures.6. Non-adherence to above working procedures will lead to unsafeelectrical equipment's of Gas Distribution
facilities. Responsibleplant conditions and failure of plant or equipment's giving rise tosubstantial revenue losses.

Experience & Skills

1. 15 years minimum experience following formal training orapprenticeship in the installation, maintenance, repair
andoverhaul of a wide variety of low, medium and high voltagerotating, control and protection equipment's.2. To be fully
conversant with standards pertaining to electricalequipment and plant installed in hazardous areas and to fullyunderstand
fault diagnosis and troubleshooting of sophisticatedelectrical logic and relay control systems.3. A minimum of two years in a
supervisory capacity would benecessary.

Education
Completion of Secondary (12 years) education followed by two yearsformal training in electrical high voltage, medium
voltage, lowvoltage switchgear, control protection relays or similar toordinary national diploma level. Short courses in safety
andhazardous area·
