Est. Lesson Activities

Time Write out detailed lesson procedures. Be sure to include 4-5 important questions you will ask during the lesson and the expected student
of Task responses. Your plan should be detailed enough for another teacher to teach it without having to ask you any questions. Numbering
and/or bullets are encouraged.

1-2 Teacher will begin the class by playing the non-drumless recording of “Ride ”
minutes Ask the students if they have ever heard this song before? Ask them where they hear it

and who usually plays it?

Allow for open response from students

minutes Pass out iPads, but do not open them yet
Activity: Drum Ninja
Students will partner up and the teacher will have students verbally say “nin-ja nin-ja nin-ja
Explain/Explore

Middle

are able to do this, the teacher will have students say “whoo. Ha. Whoo. Ha” (quarter note
kick and snare. Have one partner do “Nin-ja” and the other do “Whoo. Ha.”. Once students
have verbally mastered “whoo. Ha.”, stomp for “Whoo” and pat their left leg for “Ha.”
Partner up again to create the full rock beat effect with body percussion.

Give students an opportunity to do both at the same time

fewer questions, fewer
distractors, alternate

Modalities: What Visual: Pictures and modeling
modalities did you utilize Auditory: verbally saying rhythms
in this lesson? How? Kinesthetic: switching partner roles, moving around different parts of the class
Tactile: using the drum set on the ipad
Strategies: What Cooperative learning with partners
instructional strategies Discussion of what is a rock beat
did you utilize in this Technology integration with ipad and youtube
