Introduction/description of the course:

Data analytics is the process of examining data sets in order to draw conclusions
about the information they contain, increasingly with the aid of specialized
systems and software. Data analytics technologies and techniques are widely
used in businesses to enable organizations to make more-informed business
decisions. The ability to analyze data is a powerful skill that managers need to
develop to make better decisions. Microsoft Excel is one of the top tools for
data analysis. Excel spreadsheet software has become an integral part of most
business organizations across the world. Excel is used for various purposes by
business establishments. Some organizations use this spreadsheet software for
generating memos, track sales trends, and other business data. From the
viewpoint of the employer, particularly those in the field of information
systems, the use of Excel as an end-user computing tool is essential. Not only
are many business professionals using Excel to perform everyday functional
tasks in the workplace, an increasing number of employers rely on Excel for
decision support.

undertaking basic and advanced data analysis.

What to Expect?

Exercises and Cases: Exercises will be given in class to explain/demonstrate a

concept and to practice. Cases have to be done in class and will be individually
evaluated.
Quizzes and Exams: The quizzes and exams shall be online with answers to b
written in sheet provided.

Team Projects: Participants will be formed into groups for projects. You will have to
explore the real world problems for the project. You will prepare a small case with
questions. Prepare a data excel sheet and then prepare a solution excel sheet. A project
covering more functions, concepts, properly modelled leading to analysis and decision
making will be deliverable of the project..

As a general rule for each hour of class work you will need to put in about 2 hours of
preparation. This may vary depending on participant abilities and the module.
