How to check battery performance in PBC 6500 cabinet

(Test PBC 6500 cabinet E\\\)

How to make Batteries test for PBC 6500 cabinet.
1- Connect to the cabinet as below

Open the browser and write the cabinet IP and there are many methods to get the cabinet IP

I. Label on the cabinet with its IP.


II. Try default IP (192.168.100.100) and subnet mask (255.255.255.0)
III. Looking for the 3G unit IP and add 5.
IV. IF traffic node installed in the site looking for its IP and add or remove 1.
V. If above methods didn’t successful connect USB cable and use putty to get the
IP,open Putty and choose serial line and write the number of COM and adjust speed
on 115200 and press open then write this order(resetSCU)
And the IP will appear on the screen.

Note 1 :

Set any IP address in the same range as defined by the subnet mask ,don’t set the same IP
address as for the SCU.
i.e. if the SCU IP is 192.168.100.100 set the IP for PC 192.168.100.99 or 192.168.100.101.

Note 2:

We use putty for Windows 7 but for Windows XP we make below steps.

1. Connect a USB cable between the USB interface on the SCU and a USB
port on the PC.
2. The Found New Hardware wizard starts.

3. Select the check box Search a specific location.
4. Type the path to the folder where the driver is saved on the hard disk and click OK.
5. Start HyperTerminal.
6. The Connection description window pops up. Enter a name for the connection and click OK.
7. The Connect to window pops up. Select a free COM port in the Connect using field. Make sure to
choose one that is actually connected to the USB. This is usually the last one in the field. Click OK.
8. The COM Properties window pops up. Adjust the parameters.
9. Press the Esc key on the computer keyboard. The word “Command” appears in the HyperTerminal
window. If the word “Command” does not appear, wait for 30 seconds and press Esc again. If this is not
successful, type some random letters and press the Enter key.
An error message will appear. Press the Esc key and the word “Command” will appear in the
HyperTerminal window.
Note: Commands are sensitive to upper and lower case.
10. Type “resetSCU” and press Enter.
11. The SCU setting will appear in the window. Press any key within 5 seconds if the settings shall be
changed.
12. Type “m” to modify the settings.
13. Enter the password.
14. Press Enter to skip the first setting.
15. Enter the new IP address.
16. Do not change any of the following settings. Press Enter to step through the settings.
17. The line “Saving the settings in NV memory...Done” will appear when all settings have been stepped
through.

2- After successful connection write the user name root and password default to enter
the cabinet.

3- Just you connect to the cabinet Take snapshot for overview and all power cabinets
DOUs which working by print screen button and past all photos in excel file.

4- Make sure that the firmware version is R7A if the cabinet firmware R6F or R6D update
the firmware by upload the new firmware file. From maintenance window choose
firmware update.

5- Adjust real time clock, Make the cabinet get the date and time from your PC and don’t
forget to press update button after get PC time button.

6- Take all old log files like Batteries test log file shows the last test or log file appears all
transaction which happened on the cabinet.

7- We stand on each working DOU & from parameter configuration edit

Load disconnect level and load connect level according to below values.

1) +24 V
a) For RBS 900 or 1800 we adjust values as below
Load disconnect level= 22.8V
Load Reconnect level= 24.8V
b) For DC box (links which working on +24 V[E\\\ links])
Load disconnect level=20.5V
Load Reconnect level=22.5V

2) -48 V
a) For 3G cabinet we adjust values as below
Load disconnect level= -45.6V
Load Reconnect level= -47.6V
b) For DC box(links which working on -48 V)
Sia links,SDH,Traffic node and Alcatel)
Load disconnect level= -41.04V
Load Reconnect level= -43.04V

8- We adjust the time for Battery test @+24 V on 7 hours and adjust the time for Battery
test @-48 V on 4 hours.

Notes:

I. If we reset the SCU we delay the test 12 hours.


II. If we update the firmware we delay the test 24 hours.
III. If the site critical or EX-Co site and has cascaded sites we use schedule test in down time.
IV. If the site doesn’t have cascaded sites we start the test directly.
