Reflection

GE1000 is a course that can help students make a smooth transition to Wenzhou-

Kean university. Therefore, in this course, I can learn a lot about learning methods that

are fit for me, emotional adjustment and other knowledge. In this class, the teacher led

us to do a survey on how to find a more suitable learning style. Next, let me elaborate

on the details of this action.

The survey is called the VARK test. Students can find out which learning methods

are really suitable for them by answering the questions on the questionnaire and

counting their answers. For example, I got 6Vs, 7As, 5Rs and 4Ks.According to the

calculation method provided in the questionnaire, I found that four learning methods,

namely writing, visual, aural and kinesthetic, were more suitable for me.

When I saw the result of the test, I was very surprised. Because, according to my

current English level, it is difficult to skillfully apply the four learning methods at the

same time. But I will familiarize myself with this all-English environment as soon as

possible. First of all, I will use symbols, charts or graphs to display my notes in visual

learning. Also I will create a graphic representation of my notes and redraw it from

memory and underline my notes. And talk with others in English and go to ELC and

ELL is the best way to improve my oracy. I also can talk with others to verify the

accuracy of my lecture notes and put notes on audiotape, or audiotape class lectures and

ask myself questions and speak my answers. Last but not the least, writing and rewriting

notes are effective ways to learn English well. I can organize diagrams or flowcharts
into statements and write imaginary exam questions and respond in writing. I will try

my best to use the information that I got from this event to improve myself.

In my opinion, it is necessary to improve my ability in college life, but the most

important thing is learning. And the study method that suits oneself is the key factor

that helps you study well. This activity can help students to clearly know what is the

most suitable learning method for themselves. Therefore, I think this activity is very

significant for future study.

In conclusion, this event was very meaningful and helped me find a way to study.

I believe that in the future study, I will skillfully use these learning methods to better

learning.
