 Berès who warned about a demonstration organised by the Scientology sect which was leaving Brus-
sels for Paris (the President took note of this warning);
 Balfe, Quaestor, who gave the reasons for the recommendation referred to by Mrs Morgan;
 Thyssen who, in view of the importance of the subject, regretted the insufficient time allocated for the
debate following the Commission statement on the oil crisis, first item on that day’s agenda;
 Oomen-Ruijten who considered that some of the constituency weeks in 2001 had not been very well
planned and called on the Bureau to reconsider the calendar;
 Ilka Schröder who drew attention to three racist attacks that had recently claimed victims in Germany
(the President condemned the attacks).

Decision by the Committee on Constitutional Affairs

The Committee on Constitutional Affiars had decided at its meeting of 12 July 2000 to take no further
action on the proposal by Mr Dupuis for an amendment of Rules 42, 43 and 44 of Parliament’s Rules
of Procedure (motion for a resolution B5-0363/1999 announced on 14 December 1999 (Minutes of that
Sitting, Item 3).
