Business Communications Interview Script

Thank you for taking the time to meet today. Your input is valuable to me. You inspired me to
study marketing, and I am interested in learning more about your many work experiences now
that I am going to be graduating and entering the workforce. I will be asking questions about
how you utilize Business Communications in the workplace.

Business Presentations
1.) I know that you frequently give business presentations in the workplace and that you
thoroughly enjoy public speaking. Have you always enjoyed public speaking, or were
there any obstacles you needed to overcome first?
2.) How do you prepare for a business presentation? Do you find that doing a run through of
your presentation ahead of time in front of your colleagues is helpful?
3.) I have learned that effective nonverbal communication is vital to an effective
presentation. How do you ensure that your nonverbal communication is effective when
you are presenting? Is this something that you consciously think about or is it natural for
you?
4.) From my experience, I have learned that visual aids have the potential to make or break
a presentation. How do you go about creating visual aids for your presentations? Over
the years, have you realized that some visual aids work well while others do not?

Social Media
1.) You have been a member of the workforce for quite some time. Have you noticed that
how colleagues communicate in the workplace has changed over time? If so, what do
you think about these changes?
2.) What social media platforms have you used to communicate or work on projects with
your colleagues? Do you feel that those platforms are effective?
3.) How have you built your online reputation? Did you encounter any challenges with this?
4.) I understand that you have had the opportunity to work for a myriad of different
companies. How has each company’s social media policy differed? Which policy do you
feel was the most effective?

Research and Business Reports

1.) I understand that surveys can be a valuable tool for business research, especially in the
field of marketing. What kind of information do you typically obtain after administering a
survey? How do you then utilize this information?
2.) What other kinds of primary research have you conducted for business reports? How do
you ensure that all of the data is valid?
3.) How do you organize all of your data before writing a business report? Do you find this
process to be challenging?
4.) I have learned that effective tables and charts are a vital piece of a business report.
What advice do you have for creating tables and charts that effectively display
information?

Again, thank you for taking the time to meet with me today. I admire your career trajectory, and I
value your input.
