Introduction:

As the name of the project is “android based agriculture assistance app”. The project is about to
provide easy and real time assistance to the farmer and to others who are interested in agriculture
and want to gain some knowledge about the crops or the other issues regarding agriculture like
weather, proper time of the crops, diseases and their precautions. The data regarding farming are
available from many sources like printed media, audio and visual aids, newspaper, TV, internet,
mobile etc. but the formats and structures of data are dissimilar. So it‘s very hard for farmer to
get the information and to understand the various information which are provided on various
source.
As the agriculture and its growth is major aspect in any country’s economy, the people work in
it like farmers are even more simple and common they only like to understand the solid or
specific information about anything they want, therefore our agriculture assistance app is all
based on these simple requirements to make the farmers understand and provide the information
they want. This app will provide various features like following:

 Information about different types of crops.

 Step wise procedure to how to grow the crops.
 Diseases types and precautions.
 Agriculture specialist so that farmers can directly contact him or ask him anything about
their problems.
 Another person with brief knowledge of agriculture in case specialist is not present.
 Weather information regarding different crops in different months of the year.
 Video shearing of disease or any other things farmers are facing they can make a clip
and shear to the app.
 Data storing, as the new user or farmer uses the app the application will ask to fill some
information like city, area, diseases he’s facing and problem he want to state. These
information will be saved in the app as a record, so that it can be easy to determine most
affected area and different diseases.
 Feedback from farmers.

This app will also provide the latest updates/news regarding agriculture so that the user or the
farmer can get to know the latest trends and technology in the field of agriculture. The app will
be built by briefly considering the farmers requirements so that they can understand and easily
interact with the app, and for that the app will be providing two languages (Urdu and English) so
that user can easily switch to which language he feel comfortable.
Problem statement:
More than half of the population of Pakistan is living in rural areas and are directly related to the
agriculture and farming. Major crops in Pakistan include wheat, rice, maize, cotton, sugar cane
and mangoes plays very important role in the economical growth of the country. As the
agriculture is very important for Pakistan but still it’s being ignored as there is no proper
mechanism to provide the basic information about the farming, along with this there is no
mechanism to deal with the commonly occurred issue of soil erosion in Pakistan due to which
the energy of the soil is decreasing day by day and crops are not being good in revenue
collection.

The mechanism of flood irrigation is poor due to which major percentage of water is being waste
year by year and there is no sufficient water left to provide it to agriculture field. Unlike Pakistan
other countries are paying more and more attention toward this field as they introduced new
water method called drip irrigation in which proper amount and quality is provided to the crops.
There are new techniques and technology regarding agriculture on which the other countries has
shifted their agriculture to these new and use full techniques, but in Pakistan there is no proper
method to provide information about the new techniques and technology to make farming even
batter and collect more revenue from it.

Lands are being dividing as the generation goes on due to which numbers of the new famers are
increasing gradually and as they do not have any information about new scientific method or
technologies for farming therefore there per acre yield is very low as compare to other countries.
New famers are not being able to purchase seeds or fertilizers as they’re not gaining anything
from their crops. The information required by the farmer to make farming better are following:

 Fundamental in formation as which crops to plant?

 Which seeds to be used?
 Best cultivation practice for crops and soil.
 Water irrigation system.
 Soil erosion information.

In Pakistan the farmers are facing many problems including increasing inflation rate and the
yield from the farming is decreasing, but by providing proper information about agriculture and
making them aware of new technologies and techniques the rate of yield per acre can be
increase. The only hurdle in the farmer’s way in Pakistan is lack of proper information as there is
no proper platform from where farmers can gain proper information and solution to their
problems, in the lack of information about new techniques and proper way of farming this
“agriculture assistance app” is based on to help the farmers to understand the farming in simple
and better way.
Problem solution:
As the problems farmers are facing in Pakistan are described above, from which it is clear that
the only reason of low yield from farming is lack of information about farming, information
about new technologies and techniques and awareness to new farmers about the farming. The
proper teaching of new information to the farmers so that they can be aware of different
problems they are going to face in farming like how to treat soil to gain soil energy, water
irrigation techniques, knowledge about weather and time for the different crops by having all
these information in mind farmers can overcome these problems and can gain maximum yield
per acre, but how this is going to happen from where they can get these information easily how
they can get knowledge about new updates in agriculture.

To make this possible there should be a proper platform from where they can gain information or
they can discuss new idea about farming, by considering all of these needs and requirements the
idea of making an app is the best solution to overcome this lack of information and access.
This app will let the farmers to gain knowledge and to get aware of new updates news about the
agriculture they can study the method the other countries are working on. To make it easy for
farmers there will be on board specialist who will answer the farmer’s queries or even the
farmers can hire the specialist to determine the land test including soil test.

This app will operate in both English and Urdu language so that it can be easy for farmers to
interact with the app. There are many kinds of disease about which this app will aware the users
but in some case if the farmers come to face an unknown disease about which farmer do not have
any information, in that case app will allow him to make a video clip and post it to the app so
that other can see and discuss the disease to find the solution.
This app will also provide the articles and videos on farming and about the new technologies and
techniques on which the other countries are working on, with better information and knowledge
farmers in Pakistan can perform very well and as the yield increase the country’s growth also
increase.

By using this app we can collect the information from all across the country and by analysis the
record we can determine the more affected areas and can come to know some different kind of
disease in different cities across the country, by this record we can draw a graph and can
determine the areas weak in agriculture and farming and to permute it we can help them to better
their way of doing to make them to work the easy and better way of agriculture.
