Effective value
Peak value
Crest factor =
Effective value
Figure Input Voltage & Current Waveforms
The device crest factor can be obtained by dividing the peak value of the current supplied to the
device by the effective value of that current.
The crest factor must be considered for the input current supplied to every device connected to
the system when estimating the power output capacity in selecting the power unit. Approximate
device crest factors should be as follows:
100 V system: About 3.
220 V system: About 6.
• If the power unit crest factor (the peak value allowable in relation to the effective value)
is larger than the device crest factor, the power unit can be used to its full rated capacity.
However, rush current, backup time, reserve capacity, etc., must be separately taken into
consideration.
• If the power unit crest factor is smaller than the device crest factor, the power unit capacity
needs to be calculated in the formula shown below. Rush current, backup time, reserve
capacity, etc., must be separately taken into consideration.
Power unit output capacity = Total device power consumption x Capacity coefficient
In Europe, a power unit should be selected so that high-frequency supply current requirements
are properly met in accordance with EMC regulations.
The capacity of the high-frequency current suppressing unit should be determined in consultation
with the vendor similar to the selection of power unit’s output capacity previously discussed.

n Overview of Migrated-FCS
Migrated-FCS is a kind of Field Control Station in which the controlling unit of the old model
field control station CENTUM V or CENTUM-XL is replaced by the new controlling unit (FCU) of
CENTUM VP KFCS (Standard FCS with FIO, 16 MB Main Memory) or KFCS2 (Enhanced FCS
with FIO, 32 MB Main Memory).
If the control unit of an existing field control station is replaced with FCU of KFCS, the field control
station will be referred to as RFCS2.
If the control unit of an existing field control station is replaced with FCU of KFCS2, the field
control station will be referred to as RFCS5.
Migrated-FCS can use the old model I/O cards, signal conditioning cards and terminal boards. It
can also use the new model I/O cards with the old model signal conditioning cards and terminal
boards.
l Migrated-FCS Using Old Model I/O Cards, Signal Conditioning Cards and
Terminal Boards
The I/O cards, signal conditioning cards and terminal boards of the existing field control station
are continually used by the RFCS2 (with 16 MB main memory) or RFCS5 (with 32 MB main
memory). This type of RFCS2 and RFCS5 consists of the following models:

n Overview of FIO
When upgrading the I/O devices of a Migrated FCS, the FIO (Fieldnetwork I/O) can be used via
ESB bus interface (SB301/SB302). FIO is a newly developed open process I/O system based on
the concept of high-speed, small-size and high-reliability.
SEE
ALSO For more information about FIO, see the following:
A3, “Process Inputs/Outputs” in PART-A “FCS Common” of Reference (IM 33M01A30-40E)
There are two ways to connect FIO units to FCU. One is to connect the unit directly to ESB bus
(Extended Serial Backboard Bus) interface card of CPU (CP345). The other way is to connect
the FIO unit to ER bus interface, and then connect to ESB bus via the ER bus interface cards.
The nodes connected directly to ESB interface card are referred to as Local Nodes, while the
nodes connected to ER bus interface cards are referred to as Remote Nodes. An illustration of
FIO connection is shown as follows.

l Remote Node
Installing an EB401 card in a local node, a remote node can be connected to the local node via
ER bus using Ethernet communication (EPAP)(*1). By this way, the I/O modules in remote nodes
can be accessed by CPU via ESB and ER buses.
The Ethernet bus for linking Local Node and Remote Node is called ER bus (Enhanced Remote
Bus).
*1: EPAP stands for Ethernet Precision Access Protocol. It is a UDP/IP communication specific for communicating FIO on Ethernet.
TIP
The existing old model signal conditioner cards and terminal boards can be connected to FIO modules with KS
cables (KS1, KS2, KS8, KS9). Varies with I/O module type, A KS cable may be connected to the I/O module

IMPORTANT
• When selecting [Output Immediately] option as output type, the CPU needs to access I/O
modules much more frequently than output in a lump. To prevent the CPU load becoming
too high, the number of output modules should be limited to set [Output Immediately] output
type.
• If the output module designated with [Output Immediately] is linked to a function block with
high-speed scan, the CPU load may becomes too high. Since high-speed scan setting
already make the output period shorter, so that the [Output in a Lump] option would be
sufficiently satisfy the response requirements. Thus do not use [Output Immediately] option
under this situation.
• If a function block is outputting to an output module with [Output Immediately] output type,
the function block should not be specified with high-speed scan, but basic-scan.
• Output in a Lump
If [Output in a Lump] is specified, the output data of the function block will pass to the I/O
card at the time of the function block performs output processing.
However, even when [Output in a Lump] is specified, the function blocks like YS blocks,
Time-Proportioning ON/OFF Controller Blocks and the blocks with Pulse Width output will
behave the same as [Output Immediately], i.e., pass the output data to the I/O card at the
time of the function block performs output processing.
l IOM Comment
Up to 24 alphanumeric or 12 double-byte characters can be used for the IOM comment.
The default setting is blank.
The IOM comment may be omitted.

n Comparison of Features
The function blocks’ features in Migrated-FCS and the function blocks’ features in CENTUM V or
in CENTUM-XL are different when processing the input signals. The input signal is processed as
a 0% to 100% datum in CENTUM V and CENTUM-XL, while the signal is processed as a value
against its engineering unit in Migrated-FCS.
l Input Processing
Line Segment Conversion and Correction Computation are not supported by Input Processing of
function blocks in Migrated-FCS.
If Line Segment Conversion is required, a Variable Line-Segment Function Block (FUNC-VAR)
can be applied for conversion.
If Correction Computation is required, a General-Purpose Calculation Block (CALCU) can be
applied for correction.
Moreover, when the Process Variable Range needs to be changed, the High Limit Value and
Low Limit Value can be changed into the values against the engineering unit as SH and SL of the
function block process input.
l Output Processing
Output Processing of the function blocks in Migrated-FCS behaves the same as in CENTUM V
and CENTUM-XL Field Control Stations.
The Status Contact Output, Flashing Contact Output and Pulse Width Output signals can be
combined in one card when applying contact I/O cards (ST2/ST4/ST5/ST7) connected on SI bus.
Outputting one Pulse Width Output signal requires two terminals. The terminal number assigned
for the Pulse Width Output can be either an odd number or an even number. However, the two
terminals have to be continuous and in the same card.
Moreover, the number of the pulse-width output and the number of time-proportioning ON/OFF
output can be used in a same control station at the same time subject to the following restriction:
Number of pulse-width output (*1) + Number of time-proportioning ON/OFF output ≤ 255
*1: One pulse-width signal requires two outputs.
l Alarm Processing
Input Open Check is performed by Input Processing of Function Blocks.
While the Output Open Check is performed in I/O card. When wiring or I/O card abnormalities
occur, Output Fail Check will initiate an Output Open alarm.

ALSO For more information about Regulatory Control Blocks, see the following:
D1, “Regulatory Control” in PART-D “Function Block Details” of Reference (IM 33M01A30-40E)
l Output Processing
The pulse width output processing converts the changes of MV to a pulse-width signal and sends
it to contact terminals of output module. A pulse-width signal requires two contact terminals.
When using ESB bus contact output module, it needs to designate pulse-width output (PW)
on IOM builder and connect the signal to the odd numbered terminal. If it connects to an even
numbered terminal, an error occurs.
For SI bus contact output cards (ST2, ST4, ST5, ST7), status output, flashing outputs and pulse-
width outputs can be arranged in the same card. For outputting a pulse-width signal, connect the
output signal to the first of the two terminals, either odd or even numbered terminal is valid.
The function blocks can be used for pulse-width output are the same as those in CENTUM VP
KFCS/KFCS2.

n Process I/O
Process I/O transmits/receives signals between the field devices and the FCSs. The Regulatory
Control, the Numerical Arithmetic Operation, and the Sequence Control handle the process I/O
signals.
Process I/O points are identified by terminal No. The structure of terminal number for SI bus is
different from the structure for ESB bus.
The structure of the terminal No. for SI Bus is as follows:
%Ynnusmm
%Y : process I/O identifier (fixed)
nn : nest No. (01 to 05)
u : slot No. (1 to 8)
s : fixed at 1
mm : terminal No. (01 to 64)
SEE
ALSO Element number of ESB bus has the same structure in KFCS2/KFCS.
For more information about the structure of element number of ESB bus, see the following:
“l Format of Terminal Number : KFCS2/KFCS” of “n Identifiers of Process Inputs/Outputs” of A2, “Outline

n Process Report
The Process Report acquires information regarding to system operating status for display in a
window or printing out on a printer upon the user’s request. The current status is displayed or
printed out.
Data acquired by the Process Report is displayed in the Process Report window. The Process
Report window displays the following two kinds of report:
• Tag report
• I/O report
SI bus process I/O is identified by the element name “%Y” while ESB bus process I/O is identified
by the element name “%Z”.
The methods of calling up the Process Report window and displaying reports are the same as
those for KFCS/KFCS2.

• Pull out each nest common card that relates to the relevant bus from IO nest
one by one.
Wait for one second or more, if Recover is not printed, insert it in the nest again
and pull the nest common card of the following nest out.
If Recover is printed, exchange the card because it is a failure of the nest
common card pulled out at that time.
• When it is not recovered even if the checking of pulling-out all nest common
cards is ended, it is thought the failure of SI bus communication card. Change
the control authority of CPU card by pushing the START/STOP switch twice
on the front panel of CPU card on the control side, and restart it. After that,
exchange SI bus communication card.

C1. Overview
Migrated-FCS is a type of field control station in which the station control nest of CENTUM
V and CENTUM-XL can be replaced with field control unit of CENTUM VP.
• Existing FCS: Field Control Station
The models are represented as the CFCS2 (CENTUM V) and the EFCS (CENTUM-XL).
• SCN: Station Control Nest
This component will be replaces.
Migrated-FCS will be referred to as FCU (Field Control Unit).
Moreover, the existing main power distribution board requires certain modification. This
part of document mainly describes the differences between FCU of Migrated-FCS and that
of CENTUM V and CENTUM-XL.

HRDY:
If processor card self-diagnostics determine that processor card hardware is normal, then this
lamp is green; otherwise it is OFF.
RDY:
If both hardware and software are operating normally, then this lamp is green; if either or both are
abnormal then it is OFF.
CTRL:
For the processor that is performing online control, this lamp is green; for the standby processor
it is OFF. When a dual-redundant system is started up, then the rightmost processor is given
online control right.
COPY:
For a dual-redundant configuration, this is green when program is being copied between the
processor cards, and OFF when copying ends.
When processor card is swapped, or when the stopped processor is started, the program is
automatically copied from the online card to the standby processor. When copying ends, the
lamp is turned OFF.
START/STOP:
This switch stops the processor card CPU for maintenance, or restarts it. If you operate this
switch while the processor card is running, the processor is stopped. If you operate it while the
processor card is stopped, the processor is restarted. This switch is recessed in the
1-2 mm dia. Hole beside the START/STOP label. Use a thin object to operate the switch.

WARNING
• It’s possible that the laid control bus cable is electrified.
• Discharge electricity before connecting coaxial cable to V net branch connector (N type
or BNC type) as procedure below. Be sure to put on wrist strap beforehand. However, if
the other terminal of this cable has already been connected to another unit, there is no
possibility of electrical charge, following procedure is unnecessary.
Connect the central conductor and the external one of the cable side connector one so as to
touch the ground wire.
Connect to the coupler soon after discharging electricity.
CAUTION
• Wire the power cable through the conduit at the desk entrance for the following reasons:
To prevent damage to the cable due to contact with a metal plate.
To avoid applying excessive weight on the solderless lugs or power connection
terminals due to the weight of the cable.
• Turn off the main power supply, and perform work after confirming with a tester that there is
no power in the power cable to be connected.
• After the power cable has been connected, turn on the power to the power cable with the
breaker in the power panel turned OFF. Then, confirm with a tester that normal power is
being supplied to the power connection terminal.
• Wire the power cable so that a distance of 1 cm or more is maintained from other signal
lines.
C3.2 Grounding
Be sure to ground the equipment in order to avoid the electric shock of the operator and
maintenance engineers and to prevent the influence of external noise.
CAUTION
For grounding, connect cable to the protective-ground terminal next to the power source
connection terminal (100 ohms or less).

In this document, 10BASE-5 and 10BASE-2, terminology of Ethernet, are use to describe the V
net cables for easier understanding. Actually, V net is different from Ethernet.
Yokogawa’s YCB111 and YCB141 cables should be used instead of 10BASE-5 and 10BASE-2
cables.

Disconnecting Migrated-FCS from the V net
• To disconnect Migrated-FCS from the V net while the CENTUM system is in operation, be
sure to demount the V net connector assembly as a unit.
• Keep the V net cable plugged into the V net connector unit. If the V net cable is unplugged,
the V net would be disrupted, resulting in a network error and affecting the performance of
communication between other stations connected to the V net.

IMPORTANT
The clamp filters are ferrite magnets. Do not give them any mechanical shock such as dropping
them. Also, observe the operating and storage temperature ranges.
CAUTION
• The V net grounding unit grounds devices interconnected by a V net at one point for safety
(V net grounding in one place of the segment is sufficient.)
(The term segment refers to a coverage of repeater-free communication among units on the
same bus.)
• For added safety, the coaxial cable in each segment should be grounded at about the center
of the segment.

Precautions for parts having defined life spans
• The term “Parts having defined life spans” refers to parts that are expected to wear out or
break down within 10 years from initial use under normal conditions of use and storage.
Therefore, parts with expected life spans of 10 years or more are excluded here.
• The recommended replacement cycle is the cycle indicated for preventive maintenance. It
provides no guarantee against the accidental failures.
• The recommended replacement cycle is merely a guideline. The actual replacement cycle
depends on the usage conditions.
• The recommended replacement cycle is subject to change according to actual field results.
Recommended Used in :

l Method of Replacement
Replace the battery using the procedure set out below.
1. Confirm that power is applied to Migrated-FCS.
2. Turn the power unit battery ON/OFF toggle switch OFF.
The toggle switch is a self-locking type. Pull the switch lever towards you, then toggle it.
3. Loosen battery unit mounting screw, and pull towards you.
If you pull it out a distance of 10 mm, then the power unit internal connector comes
unplugged.
4. If you continue pulling it towards you (about 150 mm), the battery unit comes out of the
power unit.
5. Remove the rear battery holder bracket. (Two M3 screws).
6. The connector is held by two lever-clips at its top and bottom (see figure above), press
these inwards (towards center of connector) and remove it via the hole. The connector can
be easily pulled out by using a pair of long-nose pliers to claw the connector softly and push
it slightly.
7. The procedure for installing the new battery pack is the reverse of the procedure for
removal.
Refer to the figure above for connector orientation.
8. When power unit is mounted, turn battery ON/OFF toggle switch ON.
IMPORTANT
• Replace a battery pack when the validity period expires.
• Order a new battery at least one month before the validity period expires.
• Wear a wrist strap when handling a battery pack.
• Do not short-circuit the battery terminals.
• Do not throw a battery pack in a fire.
• Do not disassemble a battery pack.
• A battery pack contains nickel-cadmium batteries, and hence it must be discarded very
carefully to prevent environmental pollution.
WARNING
When online replacing the fuses of the fan unit while the FCS is running, check if the seal with
character “1” enclosed in a rectangular is stuck at the fan unit.
If the seal is not stuck on the fan unit, replacing the fuses of the fan unit should not be performed
online. If the seal is not stuck on the fan unit and replacing the fuses of the fan unit is performed
online, the FCS may unexpectedly stop.

n Replacement Procedure
The fuse can be hot-replaced while the FCS is running. Before replacing the fuse while the FCS
is running, check if a seal with 1 enloased in a rectangular is stuck at the fan unit.
1. Pull out the fuse. It may be too tight to pull out by hand; it is easier to use a pair of long-nose
pliers to clip the fuse and pull it out.
2. Confirm that the new fuse has the same rating and install it. Make sure that the letters on
the fuse case are not upside down.
3. Confirm that the corresponding fan runs normally.
