Notice of vacancy of A 2 post: Director of the Directorate for Budget execution (Article 29(2))

The Commission is seeking to fill the post of Director of the Directorate for Budget execution, within the
Directorate-General Budget. This Directorate is responsible for the European Commission’s internal

As the Commission’s internal accountant, one of the Director’s main tasks will be to ensure that the
Commission’s accounts are properly managed and that accounting rules are applied in line with the
principles currently in use in international organisations and other public bodies. The successful candidate
will also be responsible for liaising with the Court of Auditors over the Statement of Assurance and the
Financial Report. For purposes of managing payment settlements, he/she will have responsibility for
liaising with the banking network and coordinating calls for tender to select the banks to be used by the
Commission. Solid public sector experience in managing large numbers of staff and experience in
financial or accountancy management are required.

The post is at Director level (A 2).

Applicants must be nationals of a European Union Member State and hold a university degree or
equivalent national qualification entitling them to undertake postgraduate studies (any equivalent
professional experience will be taken into account).

Applicants must have at least 15 years’ professional experience at a level to which these qualifications
give admission. At least five years of that professional experience must have been gained at senior level in
the same field as this vacancy.

Applicants must have a good knowledge of English or French and one other Community language;
knowledge of French and English as well as other Community languages would be an additional
