Procedures: (15 minutes)

(Opening) – 3 minutes
1. The teacher will make sure that all of the students have their music for “Winter Lullaby”
by PinkZebra
2. The teacher will have the students stand up with their music in hand
3. The teacher will ask the students to sing through the piece from the top on the lyrics.
While they sing, the students will be listening for any trouble spots in the piece and take
a mental note or circle it in their music
4. The teacher will conduct the students through “Winter Lullaby” by PinkZebra
5. When the song is finished, the teacher will ask the students to look back through their
music and circle any notes or rhythms that they had trouble with, and to quietly go over
this section in their head for 20 seconds

(Main Body) – 8 minutes

1. The teacher will ask the students to turn to measure 15 in their music
2. The teacher will have the soprano and alto sections sing through measures 15 through
20 on the lyrics at a slower tempo
a. During this section, the teacher will encourage the baritone section to look
ahead to measure 36 and quietly audiate their part
3. The teacher will fix any trouble spots while singing through this section
a. A trouble spot to be aware of is in measures 15 and 16 for the soprano section.
There is a major 6th leap up from E-flat to C. This may need to be rehearsed a few
times in order to refine. -Why is this interval so difficult to sing?
b. The teacher will have the students use their free hand to visualize putting a box
on a shelf in order to further refine this section
c. There is also an octave leap in measure 18 that could be difficult to reach. This
may also need to be rehearsed.
4. With the corrections, the teacher will have the soprano and alto sections sing through
measures 15 through 20 again on the lyrics
5. The teacher will have the students turn to measure 36 on page 4 of their music
6. The teacher will ask the soprano and alto sections to sing through their part up to
measure 41
a. NOTICE the difference in the alto part in measure 39, where they will be jumping
up to the F rather than the A -Why would the composer do this?
b. During this, the baritone section should quietly hum their part
7. The teacher will fix any trouble spots associated with this section for those two parts
8. The teacher will have the baritone section join the soprano and alto sections, singing
from measure 36 through measure 41
9. The teacher will fix any incorrect notes in the baritone part and have the students sing
through this section again

(Closing) – 4 minutes
1. The teacher will ask the students to take a moment and look back through their music
and look at anything that they circled or anything that they might have trouble with
2. The teacher will ask the students if they need to go over a specific section of the music
a. If there is a section that a student suggests, the teacher will go back to the
section with the whole class and have them sing through their part
3. The teacher will then conduct “Winter Lullaby” by PinkZebra from the beginning all the
way through the end of the piece

Student Directed Learning:

 The students will reflect on their own performance of the piece and respond to it by
circling their music and fixing it in the next run through
 The students will provide the teacher with specific feedback on sections that they need

o The students will listen for any notes that they had trouble with in “Winter
Lullaby”
o The students will listen to the teacher for corrections played on the piano or

pretending to set a box on a shelf

audiate where they may have made a mistake in their head and fix it on their own
