“Intro Assignment”

What are the three most significant events of my educational biography that has impacted

my reasons of becoming a teacher? Throughout my time in school I would say that the most

impact was in elementary school where I learned by my teachers what I want to teach. I had

some good and bad significant moments that taught me a lot in how I can teach my future kids

when I do become a teacher. In two of my reasons the teachers were very inspiring and led me

to consider teacher as a profession. In my educational biography my most significant events that

impact me becoming a teacher are the moments when I was in second, fourth, and fifth grade all

had a moment with the teacher that makes me realize that I would want to pursue education.

First, in second grade with Ms. Harris I would never forget her name because she was the

one that ridicule me in the way I hold my pencil. Every day when all the students were writing

she would always notice me and single me out in front of the whole class about the way I hold

the pencil. Sometimes she would shout just because I hold the pencil the wrong way. I didn’t

quite understand why she acted that way towards me because my handwriting was still legible.

She made me feel different and I remember there would be times I cried. There would also be

times I would refuse to write. However, I learned a lot by my second-grade teacher by knowing

how students should be treated with showing more caring and empathy.

Another significant event of my educational experience would be my fourth-grade

experience. To begin, I was really looking forward to fourth-grade because of the teacher and all

the good remarks I heard about her. She was a real positive impact in my life in general. She
made learning fun, exciting, and really brought the best out of every student. She showed great

compassion and her teaching skills really made me succeed to my full potential. What I

remember most is her summer package she gave each of her students which was filled with math

problems, shorts stories, and different activities. Her promise was the whoever completed the

package and handed it to her the following school year, will receive a free McDonalds meal. I

ended up doing the package in summer when most kids wouldn’t have even bothered. The most

important thing was her personality she was caring to all her students just like a mother would be

to her own child. She did treats us like if we were her own kids which is such a remarkable

quality to have.

In addition, my last important impact came in the fifth grade. When everyone else was

hating the subject math, that is when I discovered that I love math. My fifth-grade teacher really

inspired me to be better in math. My first experience was when we were adding by nines and she

asked the class what is nine plus eight. I remember being the only one to raise my hand and said

the correct answer. She was impressed with me and gave me a lot of praises. That lit a spark in

me and made me realize that math was something I am really interested in. She encouraged me

to join a math club at school since I really enjoyed the subject matter. By having my teacher help

me realize I like math, it makes me want to do the same to another student and help them find

what they are good at and give them plenty of encouragement.

Overall, my school experiences had many impacts in my life that demonstrates a lot of

what kind of teacher I want to be. These unforgetting moments whether it was the good or bad

made me realize many characteristics of a teacher’s role and relationships between students so

they can grow as a better student. I remember styles that I thought are beneficial to help a child

learn. Engagement is important so a student can know you care and are interested. As I look
back at these three teachers each from my elementary school, I can recall the moments with them

that inspires me to be an elementary teacher myself.
