. InDuiries %ere made as to the %herea"outs o the

respondent "ut the! all proved to "e utile. The deendant
ailed and reused and $ontinues to ail and reuse to
sho% himsel.
 The crime perpetuated by appellant against 
his employer, the Philippine &ommercial and 
'ndustrial ank -P&'., is /ualied theft#
 Appellant could not have committed the crime
had he not been holding the position of 
0uneta ranch peration 2cer which gave
him not only sole access to the bank vault but 
also control of the access of all bank 
employees in that branch, e3cept the ranch
Manager, to condential and highly delicate
computeri4ed security systems designed to
safeguard, among others, the integrity of 
telegraphic fund transfers and account names
of bank clients# The management of the P&'
reposed its trust and condence in the
appellant as its 0uneta ranch peration
2cer, and it was this trust and condence
which he e3ploited to enrich himself to the
damage and pre5udice of P&' in the amount 
of P6,777,777#77#
