5- CLEANING PRECAUTIONS

5.1- Basic precautions

DGPT2@ plastic body is made of a transparent polyamide specifically treated against

ultraviolet with an improved outdoor weathering behaviour.
When the DGPT2@ plastic body needs to be cleaned, always make sure that the
composition of the cleaning product (or leak detection product) does not contain
an)¡ chemical listed on page 9. Diesel fuel and kerosene are excellent cleaning
agents.
If you use a cleaning product containing one of these chemicals, cracks caused by
the stress release inside the polyamide will appear on the DGPT2@ plastic body.
These stress-cracks will cause leaks and make the DGPT2o inoperative until its
plastic body has been replaced.

CRACKS

5.2 Loss of transparency

In contaminated atmosphere, successive layers of deposit can alter the DGPT2o

plastic body transparency, and even totally occult the visibility of both the dielectric
level and the floats.
In that case, the best way to recover partial visibility is:
. To use a cleaning product containing no chemical listed on page 9.
. To use an ultrafine plastic or painting polishing compound used for car body.

SECTION 4: First aid measures

4.1 Description of first aid measures
Eye contact Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present
and easy to do. Continue rinsing. lf irritation, blurred vision or swelling occurs and
persists, obtain medical advice from a specialist.
lnhalation lf breathing is difficult, remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position
comfortable for breathing. lf casualty is unconscious and: lf not breathing, if
breathing is irregular or if respiratory arrest occurs, provide artifìcial respiration or
oxygen by trained personnel. Get medical attention if adverse health effects persist
or are severe. Maintain an open airway.
Skin contact Wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Handle with
care and dispose of in a safe manner. Seek medical attention if skin irritation,
swelling or redness develops and persists.

Accidental high pressure injection through the skin requires immediate medical
attention. Do not wait for symptoms to develop.
lngestion Always assume that aspiration has occurred. Do not induce vomiting. Can enter
lungs and cause damage. lf vomiting occurs, the head should be kept low so that
vomit does not enter the lungs. Seek professional medical attention or send the
casualty to a hospital. Do not wait for symptoms to develop.

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. lf unconscious, place in

recovery position and get medical attention immediately. Maintain an open ainrvay.
Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband.
Protection of first-aiders No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training. lt
may be dangerous to the person providing aid to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Before attempting to rescue casualties, isolate area from all potential sources of
ignition including disconnecting electrical supply. Ensure adequate ventilation and
check that a safe, breathable atmosphere is present before entry into confined
spaces.

irritation.
contact
Skin No known significant effects or critical hazards.
lngestion May be fatal if swallowed and enters ainruays.

4.3 lndication of any immediate medicalattention and specialtreatment needed

Notes to physician Due to low viscosity there is a risk of aspiration if the product enters the lungs. Treat
symptomatically.
Specific treatments Always assume that aspiration has occurred.

SECTION 5: Firefighting measures

5.1 Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media Use dry chemical, COz, water spray (fog) or foam.

Unsuitable extinguishing Do not use direct water jets on the burning product; they could cause splattering
media and spread the fire. Simultaneous use of foam and water on the same surface is to
be avoided as water destroys the foam.

5.2 Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Hazards from the substance ln a fire or if heated, a pressure increase will occur and the container may burst.
ormixture This substance will float and can be reignited on surface water.
Hazardous thermal lncomplete combustion is likely to give rise to a complex mixture of airborne solid
decomposition products and liquid particulates, gases, including carbon monoxide, H2S, SOx (sulfur oxides)
or sulfuric acid and unidentified organic and inorganic compounds.

5.3 Advice for firefighters

Special precautions for fire- Promptly isolate the scene by removing all persons from the vicinity of the incident if
fighters there is a fire. No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable
training.
Special protective Fire-fighters should wear appropriate protective equipment and self-contained
equipment for fire-fi g hters breathing apparatus (SCBA)with a fullface-piece operated in positive pressure
mode. Clothing for fire-fighters (including helmets, protective boots and gloves)
conforming to European standard EN 469 will provide a basic level of protection for
chemical incidents.

SECTION 6: Accidental release measures

6.1 Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
non-emergency
For Avoid breathing vapour or mist. Keep non-involved personnel away from the area of
personnel spillage. Alert emergency personnel. Except in case of small spillages, the feasibility
of any actions should always be assessed and advised, if possible, by a trained,
competent person in charge of managing the emergency. Stop leak if safe to do so.
Avoid direct contact with the product. Stay upwind/keep distance from source. ln
case of large spillages, alert occupants in downwind areas.

Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so. Spillages of limited amounts of

product, especially in the open air when vapours will be usually quickly dispersed,
are dynamic situations, which will presumably limit the exposure to dangerous
concentrations.

Note : recommended measures are based on the most likely spillage scenarios for
this material; however, local conditions (wind, air temperature, wave/current
direction and speed) may significantly influence the choice of appropriate actions.
For this reason, local experts should be consulted when necessary. Local

SECTION 6: Accidental release measures

regulations may also prescribe or limit actions to be taken.
For emergency responders Small spillages: normal antistatic working clothes are usually adequate.

Large spillages: full body suit of chemically resistant and thermal resistant material
should be used. Work gloves providing adequate chemical resistance, specifically to
aromatic hydrocarbons. Note : gloves made of PVA are not water-resistant, and are
not suitable for emergency use. Safety helmet, antistatic non-skid safety shoes or
boots. Goggles and /or face shield, if splashes or contact with eyes is possible or
anticipated.

Respiratory protection : A half or full-face respirator with filte(s) for organic vapours
(and when applicable for H2S) a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) can
be used according to the extent of spill and predictable amount of exposure. lf the
situation cannot be completely assessed, or if an oxygen deficiency is possible, only
SCBA's should be used.

6.2 Environmental precautions Prevent product from entering sewers, rivers or other bodies of water. lf necessary
dike the product with dry earth, sand or similar non-combustible materials. ln case
of soil contamination, remove contaminated soil and treat in accordance with local
regulations.

ln case of small spillages in closed waters (i.e. ports), contain product with floating
barriers or other equipment. Collect spilled product by absorbing with specific
floating absorbents.

lf possible, large spillages in open waters should be contained with floating barriers
or other mechanical means. lf this is not possible, control the spreading of the
spillage, and collect the product by skimming or other suitable mechanical means.
The use of dispersants should be advised by an expert, and, if required, approved
by local authorities.

6.3 Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Small spill Stop leak if without risk. Absorb spilled product with suitable non-combustible
materials.
Large spill Large spillages may be cautiously covered with foam, if available, to limit vapour
cloud formation. Do not use water jet. When inside buildings or confined spaces,
ensure adequate ventilation. Transfer collected product and other contaminated
materials to suitable containers for recovery or safe disposal.

Aspiration hazard if swallowed.
Aspiration means the entry of a liquid substance directly into the trachea and lower
respiratory tract.
Aspiration of hydrocarbon substances can result in in severe acute effects such as
chemical pneumonitis, varying degree of pulmonary injury or death.
This property relates to the potential for low viscosity material to spread quickly into
the deep lung and cause severe pulmonary tissue damage.
Classification of a hydrocarbon substance for aspiration hazard is made on the
basis of reliable human evidence or on the basis of physical properties.
Do not induce vomiting as there is high risk of aspiration.

Section 4 - Guidance to DU to evaluate whether he works inside the boundaries set

by the ES
Environment Guidance is based on assumed operating conditions which may not be applicable to
all sites; thus, scaling may be necessary to define appropriate site-specifìc risk
management measures. Required removal etficiency for wastewater can be achieved
using onsite/offsite technologies, either alone or in combination. Required removal
efficiency for air can be achieved using on-site technologies, either alone or in
combination. Further details on scaling and control technologies are provided in
SPERC factsheet. Scaled local assessments for EU refineries have been performed
using site-specific data and are attached in PETRORISK file - "Site-Specific
Production" worksheet.
Health The CLP hazard statement H304: May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways (the
DPD risk phrase R65: Harmful: may cause lung damage if swallowed) relates to
potentialfor aspiration , a non-quantifiable hazard determined by physico-chemical
properties (i.e. kinematic viscosity) that can occur during ingestion and also if it is
vomited following ingestion.
A DNEL (derived no effect levels) cannot be derived.
This general qualitative CSA (chemical safety assessment) approach aims to reduce/
avoid contact or incidents with the substance.
However, implementation of risk management measures (RMMs) and operational
conditions (OCs) need to be proportional to the degree of concern for the health
hazard presented bythe substance.
Exposures should be controlled to at least the levels that represent an acceptable
level of risk such that the implementation of the chosen RMMs will ensure that the
likelihood of an event occuring due to the substance hazard is negligible, and the risk
is considered to be controlled to a levelof no concern.
There are no routine anticipated exposures by ingestion related to any supported
uses of the substance. The risk arising from aspiration hazard is solely related to the
physico-chemical properties of the substance. The risk can therefore be controlled by
implementing risk management measures tailored to this specific risk.
For any substance, classifies as H304 (R65), these measures should be

by the ES
Health The CLP hazard statement H304: May be fatal if swallowed and enters ainrvays (the
DPD risk phrase R65: Harmful: may cause lung damage if swallowed) relates to
potentialfor aspiration , a non-quantifiable hazard determined by physico-chemical
properties (i.e. kinematic viscosity) that can occur during ingestion and also if it is
vomited following ingestion.
A DNEL (derived no effect levels) cannot be derived.
This general qualitative CSA (chemical safety assessment) approach aims to reduce/
avoid contact or incidents with the substance.
However, implementation of risk management measures (RMMs) and operational
conditions (OCs) need to be proportional to the degree of concern for the health
hazard presented by the substance.
For any substance, classifies as H304 (R65), these measures should be
communicated via the safety data sheet by use of the following phrase: Do not ingest.
lf swallowed then seek immediate medical assistance.

REQUIREMENT FOR TRANSPORTATION OF OIL TRANSFORMERS

1. The technical condition of the transportation vehicle must meet requirements given in the announcement of readiness for delivery and in the freight order (load bearing capacity, transformer
dimensions).
2. It is not necessary to use a tilt truck for the transportation of the cargo. Irrespective of the weather conditions, the cargo may be transported without a tilt protection, but it is recommended to
transport it under a cover to protect the product against other physical effects.
3. Transformers may not be transported on a trailer or by railway due to the effects of higher vibration and the dynamic loads.
4. The platform must be clean, undamaged, smooth and free from slip and tilting.
5. The carrier must use 2 pieces of 4 m long two-part fastening strap with a min. load bearing capacity of 3.5 t, provided with a tightening ratchet and end hooks for the fastening of each pair of
transformers. The straps must be undamaged and the signals for qualification and load-bearing capacity must be visible. DO NOT use any material or tool (chain, wire, rope etc.) other than the
required straps!
6. Factory made cargo fastening eyes must be available for the fastening at the necessary parts of the vehicle in sizes and at positions so that the transformers can be placed between the eyes. It is
allowed to fasten the cargo to holes on the sides of the multilock undercarriage, if this is safe.
7. The driver is responsible for the fastening of the cargo. A worker of SIEMENS Zrt. is responsible for the handling of local equipment (crane, hand tools etc.).
8. Fastening must not damage or deform the transformer and units assembled to it.
9. If the above requirements in any part or in full are not met THE LOADING AND TRANSPORTATION MAY BE REFUSED!
10. The transformers must be fastened and lifted with a crane - with two ropes - or a fork-lift truck with a sufficient load-bearing capacity at the special lifting points during loading and unloading.
DO NOT use any other equipment for lifting and handling! IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN to slide or drag transformers without skids. IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN to stand or climb on
the transformer and its parts.
11. DO NOT modify the fastening of the already controlled cargo or reload the cargo during transportation!
12. Requirements beyond the above, and possible deviations (housings or transformers fastened to pallets etc.) are included in the announcement of readiness for delivery and in the freight order.
