weighs but is Pan rubbing against case or not installed correctly.
unstable Scale not installed properly.
Improper connections on ADC circuit.
The scales should not be placed in a location that will reduce the accuracy.
Avoid extremes of temperature. Do not place in direct sunlight or near air conditioning
vents.
Avoid unsuitable tables. The table or floor must be rigid and not vibrate.
Avoid unstable power sources. Do not use near large users of electricity such as welding
equipment or large motors.
Avoid high humidity that might cause condensation. Avoid direct contact with water. Do not
spray or immerse the scales in water.
Avoid air movement such as from fans or opening doors. Do not place near open windows
or air-conditioning vents.
Keep the scales clean. Do not stack material on the scales when they are not in use.
Do not press with excessive force as that could damage the load cell inside.
If an optional display on Pillar is supplied, install the pillar in the upright position into the
socket at the rear of the scale by carefully pushing the cable inside the pillar rod. Secure
the pillar rod to the socket by using two M4 screws. A black plastic cap is provided to seal
the socket from the bottom to avoid damaging of the cable.
Turn the power ON using the switch located on the right side of the base.
The unit will display the software revision number in the Weight window and count down
to zero while performing a self-test.
Level the scale by adjusting the four feet. The scale should be adjusted such that the
bubble in the spirit level is in the centre of the level and the scale is supported by all four
feet.
Turn the power ON using the switch located on the right side of the base.
The window for the Weight has arrows to indicate when the scale is at zero or if the scale
is displaying a net weight (if a tare value has been entered). It also indicates when the
scale is stable.
The window for the Unit Price has arrows to show when the Auto Clear function is active
and whether it displays the price per 100g or per kilogram.
The window for the Total Price windows the price of the items on the scale. Below this
window is a LED to show the state of the battery charger.
The above display panel is also available with French, German, Spanish, Dutch
and Italian text or with symbols for Weight, Unit Price and Total Price.
The scale has an internal rechargeable lead acid battery. This battery will make the scale
operate for 90 hours when fully charged or less if the backlight is on.
When the battery needs charging the arrow above the low battery symbol under the
Weight window will be on and the display will show “Lo Bat” for a few seconds. The “Lo
Bat” message will be repeated every few minutes as a reminder. The battery should be
charged immediately. The scale will still operate for about 15 minutes after which it will
automatically switch off to protect the battery from getting damaged.
To charge the battery, simply switch the main power ON. The scale does not need to be
turned on.
Just under the Total Price window is an LED to indicate the status of battery charging.
When the scale is plugged into the main power, the internal battery will be charged. If the
LED is green the battery is fully charged. If it is red the battery is nearly discharged and
yellow indicates the battery should be charged longer, preferably overnight.

It enables the user to automatically reset the unit price to zero, when the weight is
removed.
[Kg 100g]
It selects the unit price per 100g or per kilogram.
[Print] key
It sends the results of the current displays to the RS-232 interface.
NOTE: For AZextra for South Africa and Far East, this selection of unit price per 100g
or per kilogram is not applicable.
5.0 CALIBRATION
5.1 CALIBRATION PROCEDURE
An alternative method of sealing the scales is to have a seal covering the joint between the
base and cover. If this seal is broken the scale must be sealed by the relevant authorities,
using either the lead wire seal or an acceptable seal between the cover and base.
AZextra scales need to be re-calibrated if the variation in gravity takes place due to change
in location or if the calibration done earlier was not correct.
The calibration is carried out by removing the label placed on the hole at the base of the
scale to gain access to the PCB inside.
The EC approved models should follow the requirements of the Metrological authorities to
have the scale verified for use after calibration.
If calibration is not possible, the load cells or PCBs may have been damaged. Contact
Adam Equipment or the supplier.
Calibration can be enabled by placing a jumper into the pins on the main PCB (marked as
position J4) through a hole provided on the base of the scale. After the jumper has been
placed in the position shown, apply power to the scale.
“LoAd” “6” “KiLoS” Load the requested calibration weight and press
[Tare]
“SPAn” “PASS” If Calibration is complete, “SPAn PASS” will be
displayed. Remove the calibration weight.
Or, “SPAn” “FAiL ” This means calibration has failed. Remove the
calibration weight and repeat the process.
“JP On” Remove the jumper or shorting of the pins
whichever is used. The scale will return to
normal weighing.
After the jumper has been placed in the position shown, apply power to the scale.
The display will ask for a code number, “Pn “ on the Weight window.
Enter the number 2006 when “Pn “ is displayed and then press [Tare].
The displays will show the first parameters, called “F1” “CAL”. To select another parameter
press the [Print] key to advance through the parameters.
The Weight window will show the parameter number and the Unit Price window will show
the word describing the function.
When a parameter is entered by pressing the [Tare] key, the displays will guide you
through the parameter selected and the options available.
6.2.1 F1 -CALIBRATION
To enter the calibration parameter, press the [Tare] key when “F1” is displayed.
The display will instruct you to remove any weight from the scale, “UnloAd”. Press [Tare].
The display will tell you to add weight to the scale: “LoAd” “ 15” “kilo”
Add the weight shown, wait for stability then press the [Tare] key.
The display will show “SPAn” “PASS” if the calibration is OK. Or it will show “SPAn” “FAIL” if
calibration could not be completed correctly.
The display will then show “JP” “On” showing the jumper is still in place. Remove the
weight. Switch off the scale and switch it on again to continue with the other Service
parameters.
To enter this parameter, press the [Tare] key when “F2” is shown.
The display will show the current resolution, either 3000 or 6000 or Dual Range.

The display will show the current unit, either kilograms or pounds.
6.2.4 F4 -CAPACITY
To enter this parameter, press the [Tare] key when “F4” is shown.
NOTE: The scale must be originally built for the capacity selected. The 3kg unit uses the
5kg load cells, 6 kg unit uses 10kg load cells, the 15 kg unit uses 20 kg load cells and the
30 kg unit uses 35 kg load cells.
To enter this parameter, press the [Tare] key when “F5” is shown.
The display will show the current decimal point location in the Unit Price and the Total
Price windows.
NOTE: The units must match the currency used in the country. Normally 0.00 is shown.
To enter this parameter, press the [Tare] key when “F6” is shown.
Press the [Print] key to change the value and press [Tare] to accept the value.
To enter this parameter, press the [Tare] key when “F7” is shown.

To enter this parameter, press the [Tare] key when “F8” is shown.
To enter this parameter, press the [Tare] key when “F9” is shown.
This parameter allows you to view the A/D counts from the internal A/D converter. This can
be an aid to service.
This parameter allows you to set the value to 1 or 5 for rounding off the least significant
digit of the Total Price. For example, if the value is set to 1, the Total Price will remain as
12.47 for the original value of 12.47 and if it is set to 5, the Total Price will be rounded off
to 12.45 instead of 12.47.
To enter this parameter, press the [Tare] key when “F10” is shown.
Press the [Print] key to change the value and press [Tare] to accept the value.
This parameter allows the normal method of setting zero or a slightly different method
required for Sri Lanka to be used.
To enter this parameter, press the [Tare] key when “F11” is shown.
The display will show the current settings, “modE 1” or “modE 2”. “modE 1” is to be
selected at all times unless the scale is intended for Sri Lanka.
Press the [Print] key to change the value and press [Tare] to accept the value.
This parameter allows detection of low voltage when the battery wears down.
To enter this parameter, press the [Tare] key when “F12” is shown.
NOTE 1: Only the “on” option is allowed for the AZextra scales.
NOTE 3: The scale has a special feature for displaying x10 the value of the weight
which is a useful tool during testing. Press the [00] key for more than 3 seconds. It will
show one extra decimal place making it a high resolution display. Pressing the [00] key
again for more than 3 seconds will bring the display back to the normal resolution.
