Weekly Progress Report (12/2-12/15)

Reflections
Throughout the last few weeks, I completed my development presentation, weekly blog,
and updated my LinkedIn account and digital portfolio. I was happy to get caught up on
my work but with the winter showcase coming up, I have more work to do. Considering
how I am leaving the last 2 days of school and one week of the break to go out of state, I
hope to manage my time wisely and enjoy my Christmas at the same time.

Monday(12/02)
Coming back from the break, I had a lot of work to do because I procrastinated. I am
better at completing work compared to last year but I still prove to have trouble with
maintaining my time properly.

Tuesday(12/03)
Went back to my assessments- research, interview, and mentor- to improve them. I was
glad to hear Mr. Pirtle’s feedback because I am more satisfied with my work and I am
ready to present them at the winter showcase.

Wednesday(12/04)
Updated my LinkedIn account. I joined more organizations and invited more people in
order to increase my overall network and fortunately, I am learning a great deal about the
outside world.

Thursday(12/05)
Spent some time looking through job offers and updates in LinkedIn. Because of my
VISA, I have to go through a lot of trouble to get a job but I am grateful to get the
opportunity to learn about many things in LinkedIn.

Friday(12/06)
Finished my research assessment. I completed the analysis section and turned in the
assignment. I often go in this following order to complete a research assessment: read,
annotate, and analyze. This specific order allows me to retain the information more
quickly and more efficiently.

Saturday(12/07)
Worked on my slides for the presentation. Thinking about my journey in ISM made me
very happy about how far I came. I am more confident about my public speaking skills
and identifying my strengths and weaknesses has helped me a great deal.

Sunday(12/08)
Worked on my speech for the presentation. Because I almost completed my slides,
outlining my speech was not as hard as the visuals.

Monday(12/09)
Began working on my weekly blog. I lost track of the weeks I was supposed to talk about
so I had to search a lot before I started my blog. I also continued preparing for my
presentation on Wednesday; I made the slides and then outlined the speech.

Tuesday(12/10)
Updated my digital portfolio. I have not been updating my portfolio frequently and this
got to me because it is due the upcoming Tuesday. I am glad we had it due because after
making changes, I felt very satisfied and happy with my work.

Wednesday(12/11)
Presented about my research and personal growth in ISM class. I didn’t prepare as much
as I wanted to, but I think my presentation still went well. I had so many tests and quizzes
that day and every class was very stressful, so although I didn’t perform as well as I
wanted to, I am happy with how I did overall.

Thursday(12/12)
Reflected on my presentation. I am satisfied with my presentation but I know I can do
better. Therefore, I made a list of the things I need to work on and I hope to refer back to
the list for my next presentation.

Friday(12/13)
Worked on my weekly blog. Because the weekly blogs need to consist of two weeks’
worth of work, I decided to spread my work throughout the weekend. I am happy it’s the
weekend but after realizing the amount of work I have, I felt stressed and scared about
how much I will be able to get done.
Saturday(12/14)
Worked on my hardcopy portfolio. I checked all the emails, band messages, and google
classroom to obtain all the information I need about making the hardcopy portfolio and
finally got started. After that, I printed out all the necessary documents and made notes of
any doubts I had. I am very proud of myself because I completed all my ISM work during
the weekend and left minimal work for Monday.

Sunday(12/15)
Completed my weekly blog. When I was planning out my agenda for the next 3 days of
school, I felt very overwhelmed but my goal is to take one step after the other. I don’t
want to stress myself before my winter-vacation.

Upcoming Goals
Since I am traveling for about a week and a half, I am worried about the amount of work
I need to complete before the break ends. In my weekly blogs, I always relate my goals to
school work, college tasks, or something related to education. But it is time to tell myself
to stop and breathe. I do have to complete school assignments, HOSA competition board,
ISM winter showcase board, AP Research experiment documents, and scholarship
applications but I am very excited to go to Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey, and
Washington D.C. I got my admission letters and scholarship offers, and I know I need
this trip to get a break from all my stress. Thus, although I will keep in mind about my
deadlines, I will remind myself to forget everything and live the moment. I completed my
digital portfolio, hardcopy portfolio, and I will be done with passing out my winter
showcase invitations by Wednesday. Before I come back from my trip, I will think about
the overall design and layout of the board so once I come from the break, all I have to do
is execute my plan/design. Overall, I am tremendously excited about my trip and I only
need to go through 3 more school days in the 2019 year!
