Dear Madam,

Greetings from Iloilo Kendo Club PH!

We would like to ask permission from your good office to allow our club to have a demo in sharing
Kendo, a Japanese sport of fencing, with the Assumption learners this October 04, 2018 and on
November 08, 2018 during the culminating activity week from 3:10PM up to 4:30PM.

The objectives are the following:

a. To share Kendo
b. To share that it is not only a sport but it promotes Japanese principles, discipline and respect
between kendokas.
c. To join in with the culminating activity as a new activity for students.
d. To join in with the Foreign Language week by sharing a Japanese Martial Art.
e. Show and tell of the history of Kendo and the different modern gears in Kendo with a try out
and photo opportunity in wearing one and hold a shinai.

The Iloilo Kendo Club is a member of the Philippine Kendo Federation. The said club is headed by Mr.
Ryan Gomez established since 2013. The club practices at the dojo located at the 3rd Floor Masonic
Temple Building, J.M. Basa Street, Iloilo City from 6:30PM up to 9:30PM every Wednesday and Saturday.
To date the club have seminars with visiting Japanese Senseis from other kendo dojos, joined the yearly
celebration of the Foreign Languages – Japanese at John B. Lacson University, West Visayas State
University – Center of Foreign Languages and University of the Philippines – Visayas Foreign Languages ,
and attends national seminars and friendship game events representing Iloilo. The Senior Members,
Mudansha Class, have the option to partake the Dan-grade examinations held in Hong Kong, Indonesia
and Japan as a form of martial arts upgrade. The demo is only intended to teach the basics in body
coordination and show a fun learning activity with the children , young and old alike.
