Performance List/Task, Scoring Rubric and Check Off List can all be found at the end of
the lesson.

ASSESSMENT STRATEGIES (Each lesson must include all three forms of assessments):

Entry Level (to find out prior knowledge, skill level):

How will you find out this information?
• Students will receive a handout with questions the day before the lesson.
What kind of feedback will students receive?
• Students will see the class results on how much they know and together we will
share our thoughts.

3
How will this influence your teaching?
• I will be able to know where my students are in the knowledge and this will help
me in make sure my students will be successful

Progress Monitoring (making sure that all students understand and make steady progress):
How will you check for this?
• I will circulate the room to monitor and check for understanding and I will listen
in on group conversations during think-pair-share activities.
What kind of feedback will students receive?
• They will receive additional instructions if needed
How will this influence your teaching?
• I will be able to see where the students are and if I will need to in the moment
reteach anything before moving on to the next step.

Summative (measuring whether students have met the standards based objectives):
How will you measure this?
• For the lesson closure I will use an exit slip
What kind of feedback will students receive?
• Students will find out if they where able to process and reflect on information
learned from the lesson.
How will this influence your teaching?
• This will provide me with important feedback on the students understanding and
it will guide me on instructional decision making and will help me to determine if
I must reteach in certain areas.

Connection to the world at large:

Each lesson must include a link to something more expansive like art history, aesthetics,
Social culture, advertising, etc., or another discipline / subject

What is your connection or link?

• Students will be given a prompt: “You are a professional cardboard artist. You
have a studio, and you have the money to buy all the necessary supplies and tools.
Your boss just gave you and your partner/group a new project. You are meeting
with your partner/group to discuss and collect ideas. Brainstorm, organize, plan
and write down your ideas for a life size sculpture, using cardboard. What would
be the steps you would need to do, and what materials and tools would you use to
create your sculpture?”

What do you expect students to learn from this and why is it important?
• I expect students to learn, in the real world, on how to work with their colleagues
on a project given to them by their boss. To learn how to collaborate, plan,

4
organize, share ideas, brainstorm, work together with colleagues as a team,
discuss and problem solve.
• This is important because it will help them built many skills and be ready for real
future jobs.

How and when will you introduce these connections / links?

• Towards the end of the lecture students will thin-pair-share in group of 3-4 people
and they will be given the prompt to complete.

THE LESSON – Short one paragraph description of the lesson

• Students will take Cornell notes during the lecture, to learn new vocabulary terms,
such as relief sculpture, corrugated cardboard. They will learn the different layers
of cardboard and the different types of relief sculpture. Students will work in a
think-pair-share activity to collaborate on a prompt that will be given to them,
linked to a real word job.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: ( 5 min)

Details of how you will introduce the lesson (may start with an entry level assessment)
• Before we start the lesson, we will start with the agenda/expectations for the day,
which will be project on the screen.
• We will start the lesson by going over the results from the Entry Level
Assessment handout that was given to the students the day before.
• I will be using a “hook”, to get the students ready and engage in the google slide
lecture and introduce to them in simple details on what their next art project is.
• I will model and demonstrate on how to do Cornell Notetaking before we start the
lecture.

Daily Lesson Introduction:

More related to classroom management and reminders for daily goals and activities
• Students will be reminded on what is expected of them as we move on from
activity to activity.
• Students will be reminded to stay on task and participate in lesson and group
activities.

BODY OF THE LESSON: ( 45 min )

Use bulleted points, organized for you to use when teaching the lesson, with large enough type
that you can see it
Tells what you will do and what students will do and estimated timing / length for each activity

project. You are meeting with your partner/group to discuss and collect
ideas. Brainstorm, organize, plan and write down your ideas for a life size
sculpture, using cardboard. What would be the steps you would need to
do, and what materials and tools would you use to create your
sculpture? Write down your ideas on your notes.
o 4. You have 5 minutes

• Class comes back together after think-pair-share

o SHARE and REFLECT ( 2 min)
• Slide 22: Our Project
o Famous Person / Artist Portrait or Self Portrait
• Slide 23: Self Portrait Visual Examples made from Cardboard

LESSON CLOSURE: ( 5 min )

Should include review, reflection and connecting this lesson to past and
future lessons – help students to summarize and connect the lesson to the objective

• Slide 24: Exit Slip: Handout

o 1. Write two things about cardboard.
o 2. In your own words define relief and list two kinds of relief.
o 3. What is our Project?

Daily Closure:
More related to classroom management, cleanup, reminders
• Students will complete Exit Slip and clean up and will give me the exit slips on
their way out leaving the class.

LESSON EVALUATION AND REFLECTION:

Teacher’s notes for future changes for lesson improvement after teaching it
• During the lecture on Slide 11, I would implement more tactile learning and I
would do this by physically cutting up corrugated cardboard pieces and pass it out
to students so they can physically touch it, see it and they can rip apart the kraft
paper from the cardboard to expose corrugated layers.
• I would add a short 1-2-minute video, in the lecture google slide, on how
corrugated cardboard is made and recycled. I briefly talked about recycling in the
lecture but maybe implement a short video about recycling and this way I can
make a cross disciplinary connection with science and industrial art.

(All Handouts are below, at the end of the lesson)
