Background of the study

This paper presents a feasibility study of establishing a bakery which introduces veggie

bread and other baking products which offers a job for students (working scholars) and

unemployed people and seeks to help the problem of malnutrition located at the center

area Bogo City, Cebu.

Nowadays, people would choose an artificially made food product that has a less

healthy nutritional content over the conventional foods that is available in the market.

Gone are the days when every meal was centered around meat. They eat junkfoods

instead of fruits and vegetables. Cebu at 7.16 percent which is higher than the 6.21%

recorded a year before in 2016. The towns of Aloguinsan, Dumanjug and Medellin

including Bogo had the highest rate of stunted growth in Cebu; while Samboan,

Aloguinsan and Dumanjug also led the highest rate of underweight incidents among

children in Cebu (Malnutrition rises in Cebu by: Rosalie O. Abatayo - 1 year ago).

Health is a big foundation of one success. As they say Health Wealth. It is a state of

complete physical, mental and social well-being. One of the things to ensure to have a

good health is the food we eat. Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy

lifestyle. Vegetables reduces the risk for chronic degenerative diseases such as obesity,

coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and certain types of cancer

including colon, breast, prostate, stomach, lung and esophageal cancer. Vegetables

tend to be naturally lower in saturated fat and cholesterol and have a higher intake of

plant nutrients than most meat-based diets. Veggie bread is dough based product that
is rich of minerals and nutrients that will give the consumer a healthy way of eating.

Combined with physical activity, your diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy

weight, reduce your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and

promote your overall health. A healthier variety of breads would linger the interest of

buyers.

We have identified that several barriers to, and facilitators of, healthy eating in young

people have received little attention in evaluation research. Further work is needed to

develop and evaluate interventions which modify or remove these barriers, and build on

these facilitators. Further qualitative studies are also needed so that we can continue to

listen to the views of young people. This is crucial if we are to develop and test

meaningful, appropriate and effective health promotion strategies (Health Education

Research, Volume 21, Issue 2, 2006, Pages 239–257,)

Promoting a healthy and convenient way of eating by introducing varieties of veggie

breads to the public consumers would also benefit not just the consumers with the

health nutrition content it had but also helps Filipino farming industries, students,

unemployed, as i said earlier, in the country as well as they will encourage.

Aside from the objective of maximizing wealth, this would also satisfy the needs and

seeks to help solving the problem of unhealthy conditions of the citizens, students and

unemployment of the citizens.

SWOT Analysis is an easy and quick strategic planning technique in analyzing

businesses. The main advantage is that it enables manager to understand their

business much better, particularly in terms of the company’s internal environment aligns

with the external environment. The internal environment includes the strengths and

weaknesses, in our business, we make sure that we have fast production, affordable
products, good management and full control of operations (strengths), our business

weaknesses is in case of lack of vegetable supplies and too much stocked inventories.

The external environment includes opportunities and threats, The opportunities that we

have are easy to attract customers because of unfamiliar products and accessible for

the customers because it is located at the center of Bogo City while the threats that can

negatively impact our business are having many competitors around the vicinity and not

all customers like to eat vegetables which may result to low profit
