SAMPLE: Waste Management Plan

Objectives:
Our goal is to divert _____% of our collected residual materials away from landfill disposal by
diverting as much as possible to recycling streams including composting. (Town of Canmore
events require 80% diversion rate)

Every effort will be taken to reduce any waste.

We will aim to communicate the Toward Zero Waste messages to participants and suppliers
through the following methods: ________________________.

This kit will include:


 One 10’x 10’ canopy tent
 ## waste bins to manage the following products:
□ Cardboard
□ Glass
□ Hard Plastic ( #1 - #7)
□ Metals
□ Mixed Paper
□ Refundable Containers
□ Compostable
□ Grey Water
□ Garbage

Site Operation:
This booth will be located immediately beside the food concession for easy access and disposal.
The sorting of the waste will be managed by knowledgeable volunteers.
Waste will be stored until after the event when it can be taken to the appropriate waste
disposal centre.

Data Collection:
Materials will be weighed or measured by volume before disposal.

Disposal:
Waste On-Site Storage Final Disposal
Garbage Will be contained in bins at event and To be disposed of in TOC bear
monitored by volunteer staff proof bins
Recyclables Will be contained in bins at event and To be disposed of at Boulder
monitored by volunteer staff Depot or Sobey’s recycling
station
