PGDM (Human Resource Management)
An organization is fundamentally its people, it is truer now than anytime else. Master the nuances of HR as an intrinsic part
of 21st century corporate strategy.
The useful organizations of future would be built on the manager's ability to develop, recognize and tap talents of the
people. HRM program at XLRI has shaped HR thinking and Practice in India and abroad. The programme trains future
Human Resource managers to how to understand and tap human potential and help shape the future of economy through
organizations. The key focus areas of the programme are: employee relations, human resource management systems and
practices, legal framework, interpersonal and leadership skills. The programme offers a holistic development with good basic
understanding of other subjects like strategy, finance, marketing, IT and operations management.
PGDM (Business Management)

Shaping future business leaders to create sustainable future. BM programme at XLRI intends to produce highly skilled
managers with equal importance given to awareness to self. The rigorous training, right milieu and intelligent peers ensure
that we prepare managers with an holistic integrated approach to decisionmaking, which goes beyond organizations,
humans and markets. The programme blends basic and advanced level knowledge to in diverse subjects to broaden horizon
of the future managers. The key focus area of the programme are: Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Marketing,

PGDM (Global MBA)

Success of global organization in the present times would depend upon their ability to understand and operate in the three
of the biggest economies IndiaChina and U.S. The global MBA program, oneofakind programme in the world, offered in

partnership with the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University (USA ) and
Tongji University (China) is constitutes a diverse class of Indian, American and Chinese students. Students would be
exposed to global realities as they have to spend minimum three months in the three countries. This exposure would be
both experiential and academic. Students would be taught by best of faculty drawn from each of the three partner schools
in Shanghai, Cleveland and Jamshedpur.
For HRM/BM/Global MBA: NRI/PIO/Foreign candidates can apply either through XAT ( www.xatonline.net.in) or GMAT
score ( www.xlri.edu) GMAT taken between December 1, 2012 and December 20, 2014
Eligibility : (For HRM/BM/Global MBA) Candidates must hold a recognized bachelor's degree of minimum three years
duration in any discipline or complete their graduation by June 10, 2015.
Candidates having experience of three or more years will be given preference for Global MBA.

PGDM (General Management Programme)
The future won't belong to 'Employees', but to those who take charge. Discover the leader within and get a second wind
in your career.
The General Management Program aims at augmenting the skillsets and competencies of practicing managers. Exposing
them to recent trends, tools and techniques in Management would not only provide them with extra skills sets but also help
them reflect upon the previous experience of working in organizations. Though the program offers concentration in
conventional subjects like Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Marketing, Production Management and Strategic
Management but the focus of program is to prepare current managers for the leadership roles. This 15 month, full time
AICTE recognized course incorporates a 3month field based training in a functional area.
Eligibility : Candidates must hold a recognized bachelor's degree of minimum three years duration in any discipline with at
least 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience by March 31, 2015. PGDM (GMP) candidate may choose to apply
through XAT 2015 or GMAT score (taken during December 1, 2012 to December 20, 2014).
PGDM (GMP) Interviews will take place during 2 8, February 2015 (tentative)
SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates may apply for more than one programme. Those who apply for multiple programmes may be called for multiple
interviews and/or group discussions. The selection criteria for different programmes may differ depending on the nature of
the programme. XAT written test will have multiple components and you need to maximize your performance in each of
these components. In its pursuit of academic excellence, XLRI actively encourages the students from diverse backgrounds.
While preparing the shortlisted candidates for the interview, in addition to XAT performance, we may factor in academic
ability and the relevant work experience. Besides performance in the personal interviews (and/or group discussions) we also
consider XAT performance, relevant work experience, academic ability, extra curricular activities etc. while preparing the
final list. For candidates who cannot be present physically for the XLRI interviews due to their being out of the country,
interviews would be carried out in online mode via Internet only for General Management Programme (GMP).
Note : Candidates may please note that the tentative dates for interviews are likely to be scheduled during February 16 to
March 9, 2015.
Stage 1: Applying through GMAT/XAT
Prerequisites for GMAT Applicants :
All GMAT applicants must take their GMAT between December 01, 2012 and December 20, 2014 and pay a fee of Rs 1500/
through cash/online/demand draft/banker's cheque (US$ 75 for NRI applicants) in favor of " XLRI Programmes" payable at
Jamshedpur.
Print the XLRI confirmation page and send along with the payment proof/ pay in slip or Demand Draft to the
Admissions Office, XLRI, Circuit House Area (East), Jamshedpur 831 001 within 15 days from the date of
payment/ issuance of Demand Draft. Enclose photo copies of 10th, 12th and graduation by December 26,
2014.
Stage 2: Shortlist of Candidates

The names of the GMAT candidates will be shortlisted by 12th January 2015 (tentative).
The names of the XAT candidates will be shortlisted by January 31, 2015 (tentative).
Stage 3: Interview Process
The interviews for GMP candidates through GMAT and XAT will be conducted between February 28, 2015 (tentative) in
Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Jamshedpur only.
GMP Interviews can be conducted over Gtalk / Skype for overseas candidates. Candidate needs to get in touch with the
admissions office for scheduling the interview online.
Stage 4: Result Announcement
The short listed candidates will be announced via email along with an offer letter for XLRIPGDM (GMP) by end of
February or 1st week of March 2015.
Fees
Fees and other charges for 15month PGDM (General Management) will be approximately Rs. 16,00,000/ (or equivalent in
$ US) for the academic year 2015 2016. Food, electricity and other personal expenses would be charged extra depending
on the type of accommodation preferred by the student. Fee may change next session based on the recommendation of Fee
Fixation Committee.
Doctoral Level Programme
Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)
The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is Doctoral Programme of XLRI, Jamshedpur. The FPM is a fulltime,
residential programme that trains prospective scholars to become highly skilled and innovative researchers, management
thinkers and teachers in various aspects of management. It primarily aims at preparing students for careers as faculty
members at premier academic institutions.
Eligibility and Admission Process
Applicants for the FPM may choose ONE of the following options:
Option 1 (XLRAPT)
Candidates with Post Graduation from Universities (MBA/Master's degree in any discipline India/Abroad) and Centres of
Higher Learning with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) with the Bachelors degree/ equivalent qualification
with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) obtained after a minimum of three years of education after
completing higher secondary education(10+2) or equivalent.
or
A professional qualification like CA, ICWA or CS with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates).
or
BE/B.Tech degree or its equivalent with at least 60% marks (50%for SC/ST candidates) and 2 years of relevant work
experience.
May choose to appear in the XLRI Research Aptitude Test (XLRAPT) to be conducted all over India on January 3,
2015.
Option 2 (Direct)
Candidates with above qualification may submit UGC JRF/NET; GMAT/GRE/GATE scores for admission to FPM.
Option 3 (MBA/PGDM candidates)
Candidates who have done their PGP from XLRI, any IIMs, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, XIM Bhubaneswar, IRMA, SP Jain,
School of Management of IITs & NITs, TIFR, TISS, ISI and other comparable Institutes with a CQPI of at least 6.00/8.00 or
equivalent will be exempted from appearing in the XLRAPT. The list of comparable institutes for FPM Admission purpose is
provided in acad.xlri.ac.in/admission.
Short listed candidates will be required to appear for personal interview at XLRI, Jamshedpur for final
selection.
Course Structure
The FPM would ordinarily demand four years of residential requirements in two stages. In the first stage, the selected
candidate needs to meet the course requirements over two years. During this stage, the student is given appropriate

exposure to the basic discipline of management, thus preparing him/her for the thesis work in the next stage. The course
work that will be undertaken by the student in the first year will be from among those courses that are offered to the PGP
students, and in the second year will include specially designed doctoral and advanced courses.
The FPM student who has done his/her PGP from XLRI, any IIMs, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, XIM Bhubaneswar, IRMA, SP
Jain, School of Management of IITs & NITs, TIFR, TISS, ISI and other comparable Institutes with a CQPI of at least
6.00/8.00 or equivalent in the last seven years, may be exempted from some courses as recommended by the Fellow
Programme Committee.
On successful completion of the course work, the student has to qualify in the comprehensive examination before taking up
the thesis work.
The thesis stage is of two years. The student will select a thesis topic from among the specialization areas:
Economics
Finance
Information Systems
Marketing,
Production, Operations & Decision Sciences
Organizational Behaviour
Personnel Management & Industrial Relations/Human Resource Management
Strategic Management.
The student is expected to identify a thesis topic in consultation with a thesis adviser, and work under the supervision of a
Thesis Advisory Committee. On successful completion of all the requirements of the FPM, a student will be awarded the title
'Fellow in Management of XLRI'.
Fellowship
Fellow students are awarded a fellowship of Rs. 25,000/ per month during 1st and 2nd year and Rs. 30,000/ per month
for the next two years, and no fees (admission, tuition, course material, computer, or library) will be charged. Fellowship
will be paid only to fulltime residential students for a maximum period of four years, which may be extended by six months
on the recommendation of the thesis advisor and Associate Dean, FPM and Research. From third year, a student can work as
Research and Teaching Assistant (RTA), for which Rs.30,000/ per course will be paid extra.
A fellow student is entitled to a contingency grant of Rs. 25, 000/ per annum for four years and a grant of Rs. 20,000/
for Data Collection during third year.
Conferences and International Exposure
The Institute provides support for attending National and International conferences after successful completion of the
comprehensive examination. A fellow student will be reimbursed all related expenses up to Rs. 2,00,000/.
Last Date for Applying to FPM: November 30, 2014.
Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EXECFPM)
Executive Fellow Programme in Management (Exec.FPM) is a nonresidential Doctoral Programme that has been designed to
cater to the scholarly needs of working executives / managers / faculty members / researchers.
The objective of the programme is to develop prospective scholars for careers not only in management research and
teaching but also in management practice, consulting, training and development.
Eligibility and Admission Process
Applicants for Exec. FPM should :
a. have an MBA / Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) or equivalent or GMP/PGPX or One Year fulltime
residential programme in Management (with 60% marks), Candidates from Premier BSchools will be given preference.
b. be currently employed in a fulltime job.
c. have at least 5 years of fulltime executive/managerial/ teaching/ research experience as on March 31, 2015.
Candidates who are less than 50 years of age shall get a preference.

There will be four campus visits of 20 days' each during the first two years after which they are required to plan for 3 visits
of 7 to 10 days in the campus which is mandatory. The dates for the classroom courses in the first two years will be
intimated by the FPM office in the time of admission. These visits are normally to finish the course work, Seminar and
Comprehensive Examination, or defend the Thesis Proposal, make Research Progress Seminar and defend the final thesis.
The doctoral scholars are encouraged to spend more time with the academic community at XLRI.
Duration
The students need to complete their course work within 4 years of admission. If the student fails to complete it within 4
years, he/she need to reregister with a fee Rs. 1,00,000/. The total time taken for the programme is 8 years or 3 years
from the completion of course work whichever is later.
On successful completion of all the requirements of the Programme, a student will be awarded the title 'Fellow in
Management of XLRI'.
The programme will commence in June, 2015.
Last Date for Applying to EXEC FPM: November 30, 2014.
Fees
The fees and other charges payable for the Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EFPM) is Rs. 7,00,000/.
Boarding Lodging and other expenses incurred during stay in campus will be charged separately.
