Program
7400 sq. ft. first floor remodel of PPCC’s Downtown art campus.

Space includes Entry, Campus Police, Student Life, Private Tutoring,

Computer Lab, Student Lounge, Open Study, Resource Center, and

Lactation Room.

Challenge
Design must feel modern, inclusive, and express the creative passion of

the students that fills its halls, all while adhering to the current design

of the other spaces in the building. Space must be ADA accessible.

Solution
Various art displays were carried out through the space that delivers

an expression of multiculturalism. Although new finishes and styles

was introduced to the space, it still compliments the color palate and

design direction of the current setting.

Living
Mid-Century Modern 2-story remodel of this 1927 Colorado

Springs Bungalow for empty nesters, Chad & Needra Kruse.

Includes master suite, 1.75 baths, kitchen, dining area, living

room, family room, art studio, and an office/gym.

Challenge
Although the Kruses are empty nesters, they often host

gatherings and have lots of out-of-town guests stay over. Space

needed to Chad’s military gear and Needra’s art supplies.

Solution
Large spacing for traffic was applied to the space to help flow of

people coming in and out. Closets were enlarged in art studio DEMO WALL LEGEND DEMO PLAN GENERAL NOTES

Lexus Sustainability Department
Program
3530 sq. ft. industrial space for Lexus’ marketing branch focusing on

sustainability. Includes reception, conference room, atrium, 6 private

offices, 2 restrooms, kitchen, dining area, and storage/work room.

Challenge
Because this department focused on sustainability, including

sustainable factors to the space was a necessity. Second obstacle is

that the space utilizes an open concept, so acoustics was imperative.

Solution
The finishes used in the space either only came from recycled material

or had a characteristic about it that made it an environmentally

friendly choice. Also the space was opened up to include an atrium

which provides lots of natural lighting. Water features were included

throughout the space to provide acoustics.
