SECTION 5: FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURE
- Suitable extinguishing media: Utilize a Halon, Halon replacement or water fire extinguisher to
prevent the spread of the fire to adjacent battery cells and materials. Pour water, or other non-
alcoholic liquid, from any available source over the cells immediately after knockdown or
extinguishment of the fire.
- Specific hazards: Corrosive gas may be emitted during fire.
- Specific methods of fire-fighting: When the battery burns with other combustibles
simultaneously, use the fire extinguishing method which correspond to the combustibles.
- Special protective equipment for firefighters:
o Respiratory protection: Respiratory equipment of a gas cylinder style or protection-
against-dust mask
o Hand protection: Protective gloves
o Eye protection: Goggle or protective glasses designed to protect against liquid splashes
o Skin and body protection: Protective cloth

SECTION 6: ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Internal cell materials, such as electrolyte leaked from battery cell, should be carefully dealt with
according to the following.
- Personal precautions: Remove leaked materials with protective equipment (protective glasses and
protective gloves). Minimize gas inhalation and material contact.
- Environmental precautions: Follow local regulations for disposal.
- Method of cleaning up: Place leaked material into suitable container. Thoroughly clean area of
leakage.

SECTION 7: PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE STORAGE AND HANDLING

Storage Store in a cool, well-ventilated, dry area. Do not expose to temperature above 60°C.
Handling Do not disassemble, crush or short circuit. Do not open the battery.
Battery Energy Rate The cell capacity at shipment is 30 – 60 % of the full capacity.
Disposal Dispose in accordance with applicable federal, state and local regulations.

SECTION 8: EXPOSURE CONTROLS AND PERSONAL PROTECTION

- Respiratory Protection: Not necessary under normal use. In case of battery or cell rupture, use a
self-contained full face respiratory mask.
- Eye Protection: Not necessary under normal use. Wear safety goggles if handling a ruptured or
leaking battery cell.
- Hand Protection: Not necessary under normal use. Wear rubber gloves if handling a ruptured or
leaking battery cell.
