HOW SOCIAL MEDIA CAN INFLUENCE UNIPOLAR

TO MILLENNIALS

Political parties in the United States are more loosely organized compared to other

countries. Two major parties, in particular, do not have formal organizations at the national

level that control membership, activities, or policy positions, although there are several

affiliated states that do so.

Thus, for an American to say that he is a member of the Democratic or Republican

Party, it is quite different when compared to a British person who says that he is a member of

the Labor Party or the Conservative Party. In the United States, a person can become a

"member" of a party, just by saying it. In some states, a voting owner can register as a member

of one party and / or vote in the primary election for that party or other party. Such participation

does not limit one's choice in any way.

Nor does it give a person certain rights or dependents for the party, other than allowing

that person to cast his vote in the party's primary election. One can choose to attend a local

party commission meeting one day, and attend another party commission on another day. The

only factor that brings someone "closer to the action" is the quantity and quality of participation

in party activities and its ability to encourage others to show a sense of responsibility.

Party identification becomes something more formal when someone actively advances

to the side with one party. In most states, this means declaring yourself a candidate for a

particular party, and intending to participate in the primary election of the party concerned to

enter a particular assignment. A party commission may choose to empower someone who is

seeking candidacy, but in the end the choice is left to the person who chooses to cast his vote

in the primary election, and it is often difficult to say who will take part in the voting.
The result is that political parties in America have a weak central organization and a

small central ideology, except through agreement. A party cannot prevent a person from

agreeing to the majority of party positions or working actively against the party's wishes to

declare a recognition of party membership, as long as the voters who choose to channel their

votes in the primary election elect that person. Once entering the assignment period, elected

officials can change the party just by stating that intention.

Many are not aware of the symptoms of unipolar caused by sufferer. Many people have

not been able to distinguish what is unipolar and who is not a unipolar. Many people think that

social media is not so toxic for ourselves, but in us there is certainly a small fear caused from

social media.

Unipolar or also called Mental Disorder is a disease mentally and psychologically

attacking that causes significant stress as well impaired personal function. Very many

symptoms and several kinds of characteristics characteristic of unipolar. Mental illnes can be

diagnosed directly by professional workers. Mental disorders are usually how people behave,

feel, and also thinking patterns. The cause of unipolar also occurs from several factors, i.e.

stress, depression, or traumatic things like for example past and etcetera. Mental health is still

one of the problems significant health in the world, including in Indonesia. According to WHO

data (2016), there are around 35 million people affected by depression, 60 million people

affected bipolar, 21 million affected by schizophrenia, and 47.5 million affected by dementia.

In Indonesia, with various biological, psychological and social factors with diversity; then the

number of mental disorders cases continues to grow which has an impact on increasing the

country's burden and decreasing productivity human for the long term. The 2013 Riskesdas

data shows the prevalence of mental disorders emotionally indicated by symptoms of

depression and anxiety for aged 15 years and over reached around 14 million people or 6% of
the total Indonesian population. While the prevalence of severe mental disorders, such as

schizophrenia reaches around 400,000 people or as many as 1.7 per 1,000 population.

If you have experienced some symptoms of unipolar, things must be done immediately

is looking for a psychologist or psychiatrist. Here's how to cure by a psychologist:

 Psychological interviews and psychological test

This is done so that the psychologist can evaluate the intellectual level of the disease

perforator, cognitive strengths and weaknesses, and the patient's character.

 Psychotherapy and Counseling

therapy behavior, interpersonal, humanistic, psychodynamic. Psychotherapy can also be done

with family, and other closest people.

 Hypnosis and Training

This action is carried out if it has reached the stage of phobias, addiction and other

addictions so.

According to Trudi Griffin (2011) Prevention will always be better than treatment. This can be

done by yourself so that it can distance the avoid unipolar.

 Maintain mental health

Maintaining mental health is like knowing one's own capacity, and opening up to people who

are trusted and know the effect of stress on emotions.

 Maintain physical health

Physical is an important component in humans. Exercise will help the body produces

endorphins which can relieve stress. Not only that, sleep regularly and regular body health

checks will be very helpful. Avoid too much junk food and try to eat healthy food.

 Trying Relaxation Techniques

Try to breathe fresh air while allowing fear, anxiety, and worry drift away. Yoga is also

important for yourself

Factors that Affect Unipolar

According to Trudi Griffin (2011) factors that influence mental occurrence illness is

the mind and worries about something that hasn't happened yet overdo it.

Rosenberg (1965) suggests that self-esteem in young people is closely related with their

peer relationships, especially those who connect self-esteem them with other people's approval.

According to previous research in this field, it has been it became clear that active Instagram

users were constantly looking for validation not only from their friends, but from complete

strangers (Holowka, 2018. P-183).

As humans, we want social acceptance, that is a fundamental aspect of life (Dewall,

2011). However, the pressure to be socially acceptable can prove too much for some people,

which in turn, can cause low self-esteem (Flaxington, 2016).

The self-evident glass self-theory (Cooley, 1902) illustrates self-development and one's

identity through one's interpersonal interactions in the context of society. With In other words,

we base our self-esteem not on what we think of ourselves alone, but rather how others see us.

Because the main features of Instagram is sharing photos, the type of feedback (e.g. number of

likes) of shared photos can be become a major determining factor in one's self-confidence (Lup

et al, 2015).

User Instagram is active often, and sometimes unconsciously, asks for approval when

they upload photos or videos to their profile. As a result, as a result of how the cyber world

sees us, it's easy to develop what is called "behavior." imaginative audience & quot;

(Valkenburg et al, 2005).

According to a recent survey conducted by the world health organization (2017),

Depression, described as a common disease that attacks more than 300 million people

worldwide. In addition, the survey also shows that, in fact, women are more likely affected

compared to men. With reference to "Conscious Ireland" (2017), national campaign carried out

to help people gain knowledge bout this condition, depression is estimated to affect more than

4,500,000 (1 in 10)people at one time in Ireland. This figure is very high in young adults. In

line Hence, further research in this area shows young Irish adults It is recommended to have a

higher level of mental disorders than young people of age the same in other countries (Cannon

et al, 2013). Of course, there are many determinants that lead to one's depression developing,

this will be discussed as a limitation in the discussion section of this research. However,

Current research aims to investigate depression in young adults by reference Instagram

use. Gilchrist (2017) argues that Instagram is a social media platform most damaging when it

comes to the mental health of young adults. Additional research conducted by the Royal

Society of Public Health (2017) shows that in 25 years lastly, the level of anxiety and

depression caused by social media platforms has been increased by more than 70%. The results

of a recent survey conducted by the Royal Society of Public Health (2017) found that nearly

1,500 participants aged between 14 and 24 years, connect Instagram with negative connotations

like anxiety and depression.

As we know, millennials always assume that their smartphone is a window to the world.

Not only is it done to communicate, but also used to see and learn outside cultures or anything

that is trending and going on in the world. Reporting from several studies, millennials can even

spend a full day in front of the screen of a mobile device and at least three hours a day.

The time taken to watch streaming is greatly increased. As we know, it is certain that a

lot of information that is usually on TV can now be accessed directly on YouTube and other
online media. Until the conclusion was made that millennials could not be separated at all from

watching videos online.

Social media is very reliable in getting information at the moment. Today's age

is very many reporting platforms and major news sources for the people of Indonesia. Even the

chat application already has its own news. A concrete example is that throughout 2016 several

important events such as the bomb terror act were highly relied upon and prioritized for

millennials. Just like the demonstration of the KHP Bill that gathered tens of thousands of

students because of the power of social media.

Millennial is also considered to prefer online channels to research and buy a variety of

products or services via e-commerce rather than coming and direct transactions in stores. Not

just an ordinary online shop, even online shops with high brands are also available on e-

commerce.

Indonesia ranks at the top of the list globally in terms of using smart phones for online

shopping. Clinging to and near cyberspace also having high knowledge in using various

platforms from mobile devices turned out to be very bear the weak point for millennial

generation. Even the biggest thing is the security of the millenniall generation is very

threatened.

Technology is really important now a days. We can use technology without worrying

and we can explore the whole world with internet and social media. We can get a lot of benefits

from social media such as searching about information or seeking an important information in

the urgent situation. And then we don’t need to go to bank. We can use mobile banking instead

in the middle of night.

Technology is able to studying such as online class, online forum, etc. In the medical

world, technology is important for the customer and the doctor. However, there is so many
dangerous thing in social media such as hacker, a hacker can use your data if you did not get it

into privacy things. Beside that, social media can make people having a unipolar because they

think they are not important and another people life is so amazing, not like theirs. This is too

dangerous. But using social media is how about we handled it. We can build our self

development and etc. Social media can make us learn about everything and anything in one

time. There is no hard feelings if we can get it right.

Globally depression is more often experienced by women than men, with a ratio of 2:

Apart from unipolar depression (more commonly called depression alone or Major

Depressive Disorder in English) there is also depression in Bipolar Disorder patients. We

certainly still remember that recently many events were associated with Bipolar Disorder. The

death of the famous actor Robin Williams is certainly very unfortunate especially Robin died

of suicide. A long history of alcohol use, bipolar disorder and long depressive episodes have

taken the lives of actors and comedians who have made many people laugh. It is ironic the

reality in patients with depression and bipolar disorder.

Efforts to increase awareness and understanding of mental disorders often experience

problems. Stigma that is strongly attached to patients with mental disorders is often the cause.

Stigma Crazy is not only pinned by people who are unfamiliar with health, but also among

health workers such as doctors and paramedics also can not be separated from the wrong

understanding and become a stigma of mental disorders.
