FMCG companies see return of ‘premium’ demand Content
After two years since they began down trading, or preferring Top Story 1
cheaper alternatives to regular brands, the trend is reversing in
the `130bn FMCG industry. People are now upgrading, or buying
premium products across personal care and foods segments. Private Equity 2
Companies such as Hindustan Unilever, Procter & Gamble,
GlaxoSmithKline and Marico are responding to this new trend by
promoting and launching a spree of premium brands across Mergers & Acquisitions 2
shampoos, skincare products, toothpastes, biscuits, breakfast
cereals and fine cheese.
