We plan to conduct a 2 Hour Workshop in schools and colleges on the title:

“Youth for Satyagraha”, the detail of which is attached.

S.Kulandaisamy
Secretary

The Project Details:

Project Title: “Youth for Satyagraha”
Vision: Satyagraha is the lifestyle by which we could win our freedom in a
peaceful way from the British Empire and our present youth must have a clear
understanding of Satyagraha and how to apply it now in day to day life.
Mahatma Gandhi used that occasion to teach the whole world the power of
Satyagraha which now we try to cater to our youth on the occasion of GANDHI
150.

According to Mahatma Gandhi,

“Satyagraha is soul-force pure and simple......, holding on to Truth....., a
science in the making....., a method of carrying conviction and of converting by
an appeal to reason and to the sympathetic chord in human beings....,relies
upon the ultimate good in every human being.”
“Satyagraha abhors secrecy...., is never vindictive...., it never wounds..., but
gentle. Satyagraha is utter self-effacement, greatest humility, greatest patience
and brightest faith; it is its own reward....., when once it is set in motion, its
effect, if it is intensive enough, can overtake the whole universe. It is the
greatest force because it is the highest expression of the soul.” (Compiled from
many quotes expressed at different times)
Project Aim: To introduce to youth of age level 10-17 (Group A) with the help
of youth of age level 18-25 and teachers (Group B), Gandhiji’s above vision of
Satyagraha and help them to explore appropriate applications in their daily
living.
Step 1: Orientation of the Group B on the concept and the methodology of
empowering the Group A. Workshops would be organised by GPF for
interested candidates by providing the content and methodology.
Step 2: Group B would reach out to Group A and empower them in possible
micro peace actions.
Methodology of the Workshop: Interactions, skits, story-telling, inclusive
games, group activities, sharing of experiences and preparation of lesson
modules, etc.
Content of the Workshop:
1. Introduction to 21 tiny books that contain 147 stories of Gicha and Swa,
the kids who attempt Satyagraha in their daily living.
2. Interaction on possible micro actions for conflict resolution in the
campus, homes and for the protection of nature.
3. Create lesson modules and share them in public by any means available.
4. Planning appropriately for reaching out to group A.
The impact we expect: A handful of youth who develops faith in Satyagraha
and in turn empower the children in micro peace actions.
Study Material: A pack of 21 tiny books in English or Tamil (Rs.350) would
be supplied free.
Stationery: Writing Pad and a Pen would be supplied.
Follow-Up: The participants would reach out to children of class 6, 7 & 8 in
schools and conduct a session for 45 to 60 minutes. When they complete the
same in five schools or to five groups in their respective schools and submit a
report, they would be honoured with a Certificate “GANDHI 150-TEACHER
FOR PEACE”, on 2nd October, 2019.
