RATIONALE:

Having children at a very tender age, or out of wedlock is quite common and
rampant in our country nowadays. This is especially evident in the less privileged sectors.
Because of the raw holistic development, and lack of financial resources needed to raise
a new life, with the occasional judgmental remarks or discrimination from society, these
young mothers, if not given the proper support, may feel lost on how to adjust her past
lifestyle to accommodate her new responsibilities.

Building a government-recognized and government-supported organization for

these young moms will bring about a sense of empowerment and belongingness as they
relate their experiences with their peers. Along with this, they will be given the proper
information to guide them in creating concrete solutions to address the issues they are
facing, some of which are how to have smart family planning, how to give a higher quality
of life for their children, how to have a stable source of income, all while renewing their
sense of purpose, and consequently lessening the cycle of neglected and wayward
children roaming the streets.

OBJECTIVES:

1. To be able to gather the young mothers of the city, and to organize

a Convention, that will establish them as a solid organization, with an
election of officers for “Taguig Young Moms Association”, the first
support group for teenager moms in the Philippines
2. To have the local government of the city, its public health dentists,
and PDA-PPTC directly involved with the follow-up activities,
planning of seminars, and administration of dental and other health
services to the organization’s members.
3. To give out seminars/lectures addressing the issues faced by this
community like:
a. Proper breastfeeding
b. Dental education
c. Financial planning
d. TESDA seminars
e. PESO seminar
f. Mental Health
METHODOLOGY:

1. Registration and Organization of “Taguig Young Moms Association”

3. Lectures/Seminars
4. Health Services
5. Workshops

PARTICIPANTS:

1. Young/Teen Moms (age_____ to ____) selected by the barangay based on their

population data: 150-200 young moms (15-20 from each of the 10 barangays of
Taguig City)

4. PESO
5. TESDA
6. Financial advisors
7. Dental/Public Health Speakers/Lecturers
