There are a variety of teaching methods and techniques used by our school to help
students develop their social skills. Many of these methods are well known and may
already be used, e.g. small group work, free play, freelance exercises, artistic
creation, fairytale storytelling, role playing, group exercises.
Most of these methods are described as 'active learning methods' because students
are actively involved in the learning process in a way that is familiar to them and
gives them a choice in what they wish to learn.
Around the subject of the program, which we have written at the center of the
classroom table, we record all the words or phrases that come to the students'
minds about the dimensions of the subject.
This technique is a good starting point when analyzing concepts and identifying
interdependencies.
The basic principle of 'brainstorming' is that we record all ideas without formulating
or correcting them and without excluding any.
Dating games
These games are indispensable for getting to know the team well, forging
relationships and for creating a pleasant and warm climate.
Cooperation games
They are activities that promote collaboration and encourage children to enjoy the
process and outcome of collaborative activities.
Role games
Roles help children develop skills, study some ideas and emotions, get into
someone else's place in a safe and encouraging environment. It is an activity that
needs to be carefully implemented because children want time to get out of their
roles and work on their own identity.
Artistic creation
In this category we include activities such as painting and collage that promote the
creative imagination of the child who supports the expression of his or her emotions.
Theatrical game
It is the form of the event that results from free improvisation, with or without the
participants' experiences and feelings. It allows the child to express themselves, to
channel their energy, to become aware and to communicate. In addition it
strengthens and ties a team that is going to work together, e.g. in a theatrical
performance.
