 The teacher ask the students;  We enjoy it Maam!

- why do you think I ask you to sing the nursery  I think our lesson for today has connection to our body
rhymes? which is taking body measurements.
- What do you think our lesson for today?
 Very good.
 Before we will proceed on our lesson proper let
us familiarize the learning objective for today;
a. infer what is body measurements,
b. demonstrate the parts of body
measurements to be taken,
c. value the importance of following the
procedures in taking body measurements.
 Great patterns start with accurate
measurements, one of the greatest things about
creating your own clothes is getting a
personalized fit, and that starts with accurate
measurements. Make sure you have a good
tape measure, straight pins, and a body-hugging
outfit.
 Body measurements – according to Wikipedia, -
- are a common method of specifying body
proportions for the purpose of fitting clothes.
- there are several parts of the body to be
measured. These are grouped as follows;
 The horizontal measurement
- is taken from the left of the figure to the
right.
 The vertical measurement
- is taken from the top of the body figure to
its base.
 Circumferential measurement
- is taken around the body.
Do you understand class? Questions?  Yes Maam! No Maam!
ACTIVITY
 The teacher will divide the class into groups.
First the teacher will state the rules and
regulation in doing the activity.
 Female and male students will be separated in
this activity.
 For females, there will be 6 groups and also for
males.
 Each group will be given a handout containing
the different body parts that measurements can
be taken. For females – woman’s apparel while
for males men’s apparel.
 I want you to study, discuss and identify the 3
parts of body measurement within your groups
and demonstrate on how it is being measured.
 After all members in your group are already
familiarized, perform the task, each
group/assigned 1 member will demonstrate it
in each group. This activity is called jigsaw
activity.
 The teacher will explain to the class how the
jigsaw is being done.
 Do you understand class? Questions?  Yes Maam! No Maam!
ANALYSIS
 Guided Questions:
- How was the activity?  We enjoy it Maam.
- Did you find difficulty in doing the activity?  A little Maam, but we liked the activity because each of
- To those students who witness and listen to the parts in taking body measurements as being
the different reporter, what do you think the explained and demonstrated to us clearly.
importance in taking the body  Taking body measurements is quite difficult because
measurements? you have to really familiarize it one by one hence it is
importance because you can’t come up a good fitted
garment without an accurate measurements.
ABSTRACTION
 Taking accurate measurements the well-being of the garment. An example can be a big man on a small jacket,
as there are limited moves he can make without tearing the back or causing the buttons to pop off. In addition,
a too long dress can make a woman trip in multiple occasions or just keep stepping on the dress, effectively
ruining the garment. In addition, too tight clothes can be the source of multiple health problems, ranging from
back pain to abdominal pain.
 Accurate body measurements are important for the dressmaker/tailor as well, as material doesn't come for
free. Each suit or dress requires a certain amount of material and if tailors use too much, then material supplies
will run out more quickly. In addition, too small dresses or suits need fixing, which in turn require additional
material. Accurate measurements, however, allow dressmakers/tailors to use exactly as much material as they
need and can save for the next task, even though fabric wasting of tailors does not reach the level of textile
industries.
APPLICATION
 The teacher will call students (except the reporter) randomly to demonstrate again in front of the class the
parts of body measurement to be taken.
