Abstract
Though Japan and Thailand are both Asian countries, the style of communication in
advertising differs. A major factor is the difference/composition of the advertising industry. This
paper attempts to review the history of the advertising industry; and show the differences and
similarities in both countries.
The Japanese advertising market is much larger than Thai advertising market. Second,
the Thai advertising industry has been dominated by Western advertising agencies, while the
Japanese advertising industry has been led by Japanese companies. Third, there are also the
differences of the operation and organization of advertising agencies. These differences influence
the advertising communication style in both countries.
