Collapse of Indus civilization

Many ancient societies collapsed in the world due to different circumstances, some were human-
made and some were natural. Human civilization started with the invention of fire. The second
major evaluation in this process was the method of agriculture awareness. For this purpose,
ancient cities had built near the rivers. Indus civilization is one of the old civilizations of the
world. Indus civilization history has based on around 8000 years. Indus civilization had over five
million populations. Indus civilization era divided into three parts.

1) Initial time of Indus civilization

2) The peak time of Indus civilization

3) Decline period of Indus civilization.

The most important aspect of Indus civilization has its collapse reason. Many historians
identified different aspect. Aryans conquer was the major reason for the collapse, all historians
do agree on this point but some other reasons were also involved that played a negative role to
weaken the society at that time.

Economic factor:

Indus civilization had long trade system with other states like modern world Iraq and Egypt
civilization. With the passage of time, this trade had slow down and at the end, this trade had
stopped due to unrecognizable reasons.

Climate Change:

Climate change is a very important factor in any society. Many societies came into existence and
collapsed due to this reason. Climate change is one of the prominent reasons for the collapse of
Indus civilization. Sub-continent moon soon system had changed at that time. Rains were fallen
and it negatively affects the agriculture system of Indus civilization. People migrated towards the
north side and build small villages. The drought was also occurring at that time that changed the
social fabric of people. In drought season people were used to saving food that declined the food
supply.
Agriculture:

Over five million populations less had worked in the agriculture sector. They were not able to
produce surplus food for the whole society. The major population related to trading, bureaucracy,
and the army. War fair had started to capture the resources of other states. Because resources
always scarce. In Indus valley case this was also the reason because fewer resources and
population was more as compared to resources.

Wars:

In Indus valley, many battle things found during the search. It indicates that no doubt and
through literature review, we find that Indus people was peaceful but some war incident also
happened at that time.

Aryans were well established at that because they were already running state near the Persia.
Central government concept has also derived from the Aryans. Aryans had also a modern
weapon for war at that time. They came to central Asia and conquered the Indus civilization. The
reason for this war was resources. Central Asia is a mostly cold atmosphere like Indus
civilization they were unaware of the agriculture techniques. So this war was held because of
resources. Aryans destroyed the Indus valley old shaped and implemented their own framework
that reshaped the society.

Conclusion

In conclusion we can say that Indus valley civilization did not collapse by warfare but also many
other reasons also contributed to weakening the state like economic collapse, climate change,
fewer resources, no friendly relationship with other states, food shortage and in past wars, so
that’s why this civilization did not retaliate against the warriors. Indus civilization collapsed after
Aryans, that’s why this reason considers as a major factor of the collapse of Indus civilization.
