I. Introduction

We all know that planting is the act of setting seeds, crops, etc into the ground to grow.
Plants are living organisms that can live on land or water that have improved life through the
provision of essential necessities and these needs make them valuable and contribute to benefits
of planting them. They have many different forms such as huge trees, others are herbs or some
have bushy form. The basic food for all organisms is produced by green plants. Trees are important
plants that have improved life through the provision of essential necessities. These needs make
them valuable and contribute to benefits of planting them. Trees provide a foundation to life.
During photosynthesis, trees facilitate the breakdown of food materials in the presence of carbon
dioxide and sunlight to produce carbohydrates. The carbohydrates promote the growth of food
consumed by both humans such as apples and oranges and animals such as elephants, giraffes
among other. They also support life by providing wood and charcoal utilized as sources of fuel
and provision of timber used to provide housing. Moreover, trees support life by providing habitat
to different species such as bees, birds, and squirrels.

Trees battle climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide produced in various processes in
the environment and releasing oxygen to the environment. The oxygen serves to improve the
quality of air thereby regulating the climate. Trees also control the climate by restraining the Plants
help in maintaining oxygen balance, the most important gas that enable us to breathe. Animals
emit carbon dioxide by taking in oxygen. This rise in carbon dioxide levels in air is reduced by
plants. Removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere reduces the greenhouse effect and global
warming. It also maintains the ozone layer that helps protect Earth’s life from damaging UV
radiation. Humans directly or indirectly depend on plants for several of their needs. (Sarma, 2017)

II. Statement of the Problem

Our group noticed the importance of planting is being underrated nowadays, that is why
this activity is focused on planting different seeds such as kangkong, mustasa and sitaw.

•To learn planting and its importance

III. Significance of the Activity

This activity aims to promote the act of planting to fellow students by simply taking the
initiative. Our group planted three different kinds of plants, and it grew healthily.

IV. Methods

Our group chose three different kinds of plants namely kangkong, mustasa and sitaw. It
was putted in a punlaan at first and it will be transferred to a much bigger pot when it finally grew.
Our group observed its improvements. Our group decided to document its current state.

V. Results and Discussion

1. Mustasa

Mustard is a condiment made

from the seeds of a mustard plant. The
whole, ground, cracked, or bruised
mustard seeds are mixed with water,
vinegar, lemon juice, wine, or other
liquids, salt, and often other flavorings
and spices, to create a paste or sauce
ranging in color from bright yellow to
dark brown.

Different parts of the mustard plant have been proven beneficial in a variety of health-
related issues. This includes relief from muscular aches and pains to dermatitis among others. It
has also been shown to have anti-cancer and diabetes properties. In folk medicine, it is also
considered to have poison- repelling qualities, exerts therapeutic effects on the nerves, and helps
maintain cardiac health.

Our group planted the seed of mustasa and it grew slowly within two weeks. After putting
the seeds in a punlaan, we watered it daily and made sure it was being exposed to the sunlight.
After the hard work, it finally grew into this.
2. Sitaw

Green beans are the unripe, young fruit and protective pods of various cultivars of the
common bean. Immature or young pods
of the runner bean, yard long bean, and
hyacinth bean are used in a similar way.

Sitaw or string beans are a good

source of calcium and phosphorous for
strong bones and teeth. It is also a good
source of protein, vitamin A, thiamin,
riboflavin, iron, phosphorous and
potassium. It is also a very good source
of vitamin C, folate, magnesium and
manganese.

Our group planted the seeds of sitaw hoping that it will grow into nice plant that people
can consume to have a healthy life. Within two
week, the seeds grew into a plant because of our
groups' hard work in taking care of it.

3. Kangkong

Kangkong or water spinach is one of the

very familiar green leafy vegetables used in the
South and South-East Asian cuisine. Its gently
sweet, mucilaginous, succulent leaves and stems are very much sought-after in the salads, braised
and stir-fries.
The seeds of kangkong that
our group received were planted into
the punlaan as soon as our professor
told us to do so. It grew after two
weeks. Our group made sure that it is
being watered and sun exposed daily
for it to grow.

4. Current State of the Plants

The plants that our group

planted were displayed outside the window for it to received enough sunlight and for it to be
watered regularly. It is fulfilling to see our seeds growing slowly. Planting them was hard at first
but, it gets fun as time goes by.

VI. Conclusion and Recommendation

Conclusion

We, therefore conclude that the activity of planting is somehow hard but it gets fun as time goes
by. Seeing the seeds grow into plants is a fulfilling feeling. We have also concluded that the plants
are truly important not only in our lives but also to the whole world.

Recommendation

We, recommend the following to the fellow students who will be able to read this:

•Start planting seeds and make it grow healthily into plants.

•Promote the activity of planting to fellow students.
