Foreword
Designed specifically for low flow applications, the Masoneilan unique design includes a multi-stage axial flow plug and liner,
28000 Series Varipak provides excellent throttling control which provides dirt tolerant operation and high wear resistance.
performance with a wide range of options and capabilities.
Design optimization has also resulted in an extremely integrated Design Flexibility
and compact assembly. Key design features include: Other standard configurations include a High Pressure ANSI
Class 2500 design, a zero emissions Bellows Seal design,
Heavy Top-Guiding and a design for cryogenic applications. The Varipak is also

eliminate the effects of valve oversizing and improves control
loop performance resulting in higher process efficiency.
Adjustable Cv
In addition to multiple standard trim sets, the Varipak is also
available with an adjustable Cv option. This feature allows
users to easily increase or decrease the Cv setting in order to
accommodate changing operating conditions. Adjustment is
achieved by simply setting a knob within the actuator assembly
(see page 4 for details).
Compact Assembly
Maximum space savings is provided by the Varipak assembly
through modular design and force amplification actuator tech-
nology. The actuator also includes a low profile top-mounted
handwheel option.
Anti-Cavitation Trim
Varipak is also available with an effective high pressure liquid
letdown anti-cavitation trim solution - the Varilog® trim. This Figure 1: Varipak Family

The standard flangeless Varipak valve is widely used in all industries. This
can be attributed to the overall compactness and simplicity of the flangeless
construction, and the wide application range of the stainless steel body design.

Foreword
The MiniTork® II is a heavy duty automatic throttling control Valve Position Indicator – highly visible, which allows quick
butterfly valve that provides superior performance by incorpo- visual inspection of disc position.
rating the following features:
Integrally Cast Extension Bonnet – provides ability to handle
Low Dynamic Torque – the unique cupped shape disc results wide range of process temperatures.
in a dynamic torque considerably lower than conventional but-
terfly valves. Spring Diaphragm Actuator – with total enclosure of all moving
parts provides increased resistance to environmental corrosion.
Triple Bearing System – provides exceptional support and
guiding for the shaft.

seal offset (the seal ring centerline is offset from the shaft
centerline – see Figure 1) and shaft offset (the shaft center-
line is offset from the valve centerline – see Figure 1) allows
the disc to get off the seal quickly due to the camming Seal
rotation with respect to the valve/seal centerlines. This results Offset Shaft Center
in minimal sliding (friction producing) contact between the Line
disc and the seal ring with complete separation after only a
few degrees of rotation.
Shaft Offset
The overall characteristics of the 39003 Series are listed below:
Shaft Center Line
• Long seal life – Offset (eccentric) operation gets the disc off
the seal quickly, minimizing sliding contact and friction, Valve Center
Line
resulting in reduced seal wear and lower breakaway and Flow to Close

• Fast/dynamic operation – Offset (eccentric) operation elimi-
nates disc-to-seal friction throughout the operating range
resulting in fast response to input signals. Also, the disc

tends to move in the direction of flow, assisting the valve and
actuator to maximize the allowable operating pressures.

The heavy lines define the ratings of the carbon steel and stainless steel valve body (or “shell”) in conformance to ANSI B16.34.
The shaded areas define the ratings of the PTFE and RTFE Seal materials (Soft Seal).
Seal ratings are based on differential pressure with the disc in the fully closed position.*

applications.
Trim Selection
As indicated in the table below, the LincolnLog is available
in various standard trim types and number of stages. Each
1. Staging ratios provide approximations of the relative area ratios for each specific trim type. As an example, a staging ratio of 1-1-2 indi-
cates that the final stage for that trim type has approximately twice the area of the first two stages.
2. Staging ratios do not have any relative correlation between the different trim types.
3. Recommended limits for ∆P per stage are 800 psi (60 bar) for continuous duty cycle applications and up to 1000 psi (70 bar) ∆P per stage
for intermittent service.
