Top Quant – 2018
Event information
Credit Suisse is proud to introduce its first ever “Credit
Suisse Top Quant”, a Crowd Sourcing Model Development
challenge for students enrolled in leading institutes in India.
The event provides an opportunity for participants to work
on real-life business problems faced while developing risk
management models in the finance industry as well as a
chance to interact with leaders in the world of finance. The
top teams will be eligible to interview with Credit Suisse for
its Internship / Placements program and win prizes.
Eligibility criteria
All participants must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s,
Master’s, PhD or a PGM/PGDBA course to be eligible to
participate.
Awards
Successful participants will receive:
Direct entry to the final round of interviews with Credit
Suisse for a full-time working opportunity (final year
students only)
An interview for an internship opportunity with Credit
Suisse (pre-final year students only)
A chance to win prizes
A certificate of participation
Teams
Each team can have up to 3 members.
A team can consist of students from different
departments from the same institute.
Each participant can be a member of only one team.
The team composition cannot be changed once
registrations have closed.
General guidelines
The timeline for the event is explained in the subsequent
sections below.
The first 50 teams from each of the participating
institutes will be allowed to register based on a first
come first served basis.
There will be two rounds of shortlisting from the
registered teams.
In the first round, teams are required to submit
solutions and report certain quantitative metrics, from
which the teams will be ranked.
In the second round, the top teams shall present their
detailed solutions and rationale to a panel of evaluators.
The top three teams that qualify through the second
round are eligible for the “Awards” as defined in the
Awards section.
Credit Suisse has a zero tolerance policy for plagiarism.
Any form of plagiarism, in part or in whole, will lead to
an automatic disqualification from the event.
Event selection procedures, criteria and awards can be
changed by the organizers at their sole discretion.
The decision of the evaluators shall be final and
binding. No disputes in this regard shall be entertained.
Credit Suisse reserves the right to disqualify any
entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the
entrant has breached any of the Rules.
Timelines
1st week of October: Registration for the event and
launch of the problem
4th week of October: Final date of submissions with
all the deliverables
2nd week of November: Announcement of results:
First Round
3rd week of November: Presentation round / Final
Round
4th week of November: Announcement of winning

In addition to the above, there will be regular interactions
arranged for participants with Subject Matter Experts
(SMEs) during the time between the launch of the
Problem Statement until the due date of submissions to
ensure necessary support is provided to participants to
reach a solution.
Problem statement
The Problem Statement is designed to provide participants
a hands-on experience to work on practical business
challenges in the development of risk models. The problem
is designed to test knowledge in the fields of Mathematics,
Statistics, Economics and Data Sciences. In the first
edition of Credit Suisse Top Quant, participants are
required to develop quantitative techniques to predict
certain variables, given a view on macro-economic factors
and other parameters. Participants may be required to
report the required quantitative parameters and also
prepare a short write-up describing their findings and
results.
Privacy
The information you provide to Credit Suisse in connection
with your application for any Award is collected for the
primary purposes of assessing your eligibility to receive the
Award. Other purposes of collection are related to
processing your application, administration of the Award
program including internal reporting, corresponding with
you, statistical analysis and for other legitimate purposes in
connection with recruitment and human resources
management.
By participating in this event, you agree that Credit Suisse
may reproduce and disseminate personal information
which it collects from you in connection with your
application for the Award to authorized personnel within
Credit Suisse for the purposes set out above.
You have a right to access your personal information that
Credit Suisse holds, subject to any exceptions in relevant
