Event Details
The concept and idea was very appealing to people yet challenging! As in
Pakistani culture it is not common to wear clothes of others. It was surprising to
see the response of people at social media and appreciation of the concept for
supporting the environment. People not just promoted the event but also donated
the good condition second hand clothes.
In total 40 pair of clothes and 5 bags were exchanged during the event. We also
collaborated with Syed Hasan Haider an individual who is producing bags out of
industries clothes waste. He gave 45 bags for the event which were used during
the event for workshop and were distributed among the participants. Fashion
designer Gina was invited to conduct the workshop at upcycling the clothes in
which she conducted the stamp and stencils printing workshop for people to
learn how they can give new look to their clothes, she also did DIY workshop for
girls to teach how old clothes can be changed into new clothe.
Alumna who attended the event really appreciated the effort and suggested to
put this in practice of semi annually event so slowly we make this a trend in
Pakistan and change the mind set.
Way forward
As the idea was very well received, we aim to do this event again in February so
that people can participate and bring it in practice.
We are also planning to get more bags and do recycling workshops in schools.
