1. What are the Benefits of Technology Management – (250-300 Words) 3 Marks

Management of technology is one of the leading concepts in the business world. It has numerous
benefits that are very helpful to multinational organizations throughout the world. Following are
the business advantages attained by technology management:

1. Increase in Business Efficiency:

The efficiency of business can only be enhanced when technology is used correctly. Digitalization
the files make file management very handy, the customization of documents and user agreements
are easily handled (Zehner, 2000). Additionally, Different software programs are very helpful in
providing data collection and the interpretation efficiently within the organization.

2. Security Measures:

In recent years, security is one of the main concerns of any firm or organization. Information theft
is very common these days, technology Management is very helpful in providing the protection of
data through different encryption methods and softwares (Hwang, 2004). Security is not confined
to anti-viruses and firewalls, instead, it provides a security system which is digitally linked that is
saving businesses millions of dollars from being stolen.

3. Monitoring of Employees:

With the use of technology, managing employees has become easier than ever. Monitoring the
employees through different softwares is very crucial, as it helps the manager to make a better
decision by assessing the performance of each employee and guiding them accordingly (Logan,
2007). For example, GSP and speed tracking will aid in knowing the driving skills of company
drivers.

Technology management is one of the innovative techniques implemented in the business world.
There is no company which can grow at an extended level without implementing technology
management. It not only promises a great future, but it has been providing success to businesses
on a greater level. It is the future of every company in the next decades.

2. Explain the Challenges in Technology Management (200-250 Words) 2 Marks.

The growth of computing technology has innovated businesses inside out. The management of
technology has been one of the concerns of every business. With the increase in sophistication and
innovation, it is very hard for Technology managers to handle and manage an efficient level.
Following are the challenges faced in Technology Management:

1. Handling Cloud computing:

With the immerse of cloud computing, there are several IT challenges faced by IT managers. The
core issue is to decide who basically owns the information and data and what are the measures
taken by the provider to keep it (Hoving, 2007). It is hard for companies to either let their manager
deal with the data or the remote vendors who provide security of the data.

2. Management of Remote Staff:

When it's about digital technologies, the use of traditional office has been decreased. When it's
easy to work directly from different locations at the same time. However it does come with a cost,
there is immense pressure on employees and management to handle work when its conducted
remotely (Kim, 2007). The main concern in remote management is accountability, handling the
teams is one of the hardest challenge faced due to technology.

3. Security:

Security is a benefit and a challenge at the same time. Handling the crucial data is one of the major
concerns of any business. As with the innovation, e-theft has also emerged where it is very hard
for businesses to secure their information (Lee, 2011). Breaching through the security protocols
have become very common, IT managers are working day and night in order to keep their systems

There are several challenges faced in technology, but with the correct management and technology.
These challenges can be overcome for a better future.
