THE KYRGYZ STATE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY (KSTU) named after I. Razzakov (KSTU) was
founded 1954 as Frunze Polytechnic Institution. KSTU is the flagship of Engineering Education in
Kyrgyzstan. University prepares highly qualified specialists in different directions for our country, the
countries of near and far abroad.
Today KSTU has successfully implemented a multi-level training centers, opening up new areas of
Bachelor's and Master's degrees, with expanding international relations, having long term partnership
agreements. we work very closely with leading Russian universities such as Moscow Power Energy
Institute, Moscow State Technical University named after Bauman, Baltic State Technical University
"Voenmekh" and others. In 2004, together with the Berlin Technical University of Applied Sciences,
opened the Kyrgyz-German Technical Institute. Our students showed excellent knowledge, and they
have the opportunity to continue their studies at universities in Russia and Europe.
KSTU includes about 1500 faculty members, including members of the National Academy of
Science, 53 doctors and over 250 candidates of science, as well as members of public and International
Academies.
KSTU is a major center of the introduction of European models of quality management education.
The university uses good quality materials with a technical base in 14 educational buildings and offers a
scientific and electronic library centers where students have access to an abundance of current, relevant
and necessary information.
More 21 600 students (including 2267 foreign students) study by use innovation technologies on
educational programs: 46 directions of Bachelor, 14 directions of Master, and 4 specialties with higher
vocational education. It is using module and credit-systems of education; there is training on English and
Dutch languages in special groups.
At the present time, there are approximately 25000 students full-time studying and 5000 students
part-time studying at the KSTU in 20 Engineering, Technical and Economic fields. Teaching is conducted
in accordance with the state standards and laws on education in the Kyrgyz Republic with the following

Training is conducted on contract base; full-time and part-time (with the use of distance learning
technologies (DLT) forms of education.
The Main Languages Of Study Are Russian, English And Kyrgyz.
Admission to the budgetary and contract form of education is carried out only on the results of the
General Republican Testing.
To participate in the competition for grant places, besides the main objective of the test, is compulsory
test specified under relevant field of study.

The KSTU has "Doktorantura" and "Aspirantura" (Post Graduated) programs and has 4 specialized
councils for evaluating "Doctor's" and "PhD degree" dissertations. Highly qualified training of specialists
is possible because of the modern laboratory equipment and computer laboratories connected to
Internet. Library/Information Center has approximately 500,000 pieces of educational literature .
INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY
Beginning to 1980 have finished our university and have received diplomas in higher education more
than 700 foreign students from Bolivia, Germany, China, India, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Israel, Pakistan,
Laos, Senegal, Congo, Tanzania, Sudan, etc. Besides, our students are taking an active part in such
international academic programs. Annually 8-10 students leave KSTU for universities of the USA, Europe
and Asia in order to continue their education and obtain master’s degree or PhD.
KSTU maintains international relations with many foreign countries. At present KSTU has completed
more than 40 treaties and agreements with foreign higher education institutions (HEI) and has been
effectively cooperating with such of them as:

THE FACULTY OF MINING AND METALLURGY:


The Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy is one of the leading academic units of Mining Institute. It was
opened simultaneously with Frunze Polytechnic Institute in 1954. The faculty trains engineers —
technologists, developers of ground and open mining minerals, mining mechanical engineers, electro-
mechanics, engineers and specialists on blasting work for mining industry in the Kyrgyz Republic and the
CIS.

GEOLOGY PROSPECTING FACULTY:


Geology Prospecting Faculty is one of the oldest educational subdivision of Mining and Mine Technologies
Institute, was formed in 1952 on the base of the “Geography\» Department of Kyrgyz State University.
In 1954, on the base of \»Mining Geology\» mining geological faculty was opened. The faculty as
independent structural unit has been functioning since 1993.

The faculty trains mining engineers engaged in the prospecting of ground- waters (including thermo-
mineral waters). They carry out a quantitative and qualitative evaluation of ground waters, predict and
prevent catastrophic phenomena (landslides, floods, earthquakes). Specialists – graduators in geologies
prospecting technology conduct search and prospecting of mineral deposits, develop technology and
techniques of prospecting deposits drill oil and gas wells. Engineers geophysics study the crustal
structure using geophysical methods to search and prospect mineral deposits, including oil and gas.

The faculty of Ecology and economics trains highly qualified experts. Many of the graduates of this
faculty work in the mining industry: Kumtor Operating Company, gold extracting plant "Makmal", mines
"Solton-Sary", "Terek-Say", Kara-Balta Mining Combinat, Kadamzhai antimony Combinat, as well as in
the agencies, various projects and NGOs.
THE FACULTY OF INFORMATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES:
One of most important factors influencing XXI century society are informational and
communicational technologies. Life manner of people issues of their education and professional activities
are influenced by information technologies. Effective methods for using the obtained information has a
dominant position in the world is occupied by those who have useful information, advanced information
technologies, affective methods of obtained information usage. The faculty was formed in 1999 on the
base of the Faculty of Automatic production control. (FAUP).

The faculty trains highly qualified specialists on computer technologies, software engineering and
automation. They are demanded not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also in foreign countries as: Russia,
Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Tajikistan, India, Algeria, Colombia, Somalia, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Cuba, etc.
Graduates work at the enterprises, automation and information departments of state and private
structures, banks and other financial institutions.
Students Research works, course papers and diploma projects are implemented at these
enterprises. Classes are held in ten training laboratories and fourteen computer classes where the most
modern equipment is used: server stations, communicational nets, systems of reserve copy and failure
protection. There is a research lab “Holography”. Science labs on the atomic and nuclear physics, solid
state physics, and optics are functioning.
Since 2010 workers of the faculty have been participating in TEMPUS projects: HEICA (Higher Education
Initiative for Informatics in Central Asia).
The objective of the Project is to develop and implement modern syllabuses and three broaden
modules (Software Engineering; Information Security) for Bachelor and Master programs. There are
experimental groups of students studying in English. In 2013 European accreditation of these syllabuses
is expected. There is a Master Program \"Informatics and soft ware engineering technology”. The above
mentioned program is elaborated together with European, Russian and Kazakh universities, and was
supported by the European Union.

FACULTY OF TRANSPORT AND MACHINE BUILDING:


In 1954 the mechanical technological faculty was established. In 1999 it was renamed to the
Transport and Machine building faculty. The faculty is the only academic unit in the country that trains
specialists in machine building.

Practically orientated forms of teaching are used at the faculty due to the transmission on
second level education system. 90 % of graduates are employed. Good teaching and laboratory facilities
of the Faculty contribute to the successful education of students. Specialists corresponding to modern
requirements, are trained by highly qualified lecturers (10 doctors, 28 candidates of sciences). Faculty
preserves and enhances the historically established traditions of the oldest "Polytech” faculty.
Relationship with foreign partners is well-established.
Faculty of Transport and Machine building is a member of various international associations: the
Association of technical Universities, the Engineering Education Association, SYNERGY project,
International Laser Association, the Graphic Arts workers Association, International Association of
Automotive and Road Education and others.
Training of scientific and pedagogical specialists is carried out through post- graduate and doctoral
courses. Scientific researchers are aimed on at solving the most important problems of machine building
and transport, continuum mechanics, materials studying and engineering. Scientific Investigational
Institute of Physical Technical problems successfully carries out their activities on the base of the faculty.

THE TECHNOLOGICAL FACULTY:


The Faculty is of the same age as the University. It trains competitive experts in the field of food,
processing, light industries, services and design. For many years, the Technological Faculty has been the
basic educational and scientific center in Central Asia. From 1961 to 1991 the faculty trained workers for
food industries for Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and other countries. More than 1,200 students
study at this faculty now. The faculty trains bachelors, certified specialists and masters. More than
twenty thousand specialists were graduated from the faculty.

Graduates of FT work at the enterprises of food and light industries, in state structures, become
entrepreneurs, and organize their own businesses.
More than 90% of graduates are employed. Professor staff consists of high qualified specialists
who were trained in leading educational and scientific centers in Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Germany,
England, USA, Bulgaria and other countries.
Professors of the faculty are actively engaged in researches on acute topics: the rational use of
natural resources, environmental and health protection, biotechnology researches in the production of
functional foods, the technology of textile and light industry, etc. Scientific-Research of Chemical
Technological Institute (NEHTE) and Education Science-Technology Centre (Vostok-mir) successfully
operate on the faculty base.
The faculty laboratories are equipped with modern equipment and allow to perform a complex
analysis of food products quality and develop new production technologies.

POWER ENGINEERING FACULTY:


Energy is the basis for the Kyrgyzstan national economy, which determines the level and the speed
of its development. Working in the energy sector – is a reliable guarantee of the welfare.
Over almost sixty year period the Power faculty is the leader in highly qualified specialists\’ training for
the power engineering. The faculty realizes the fundamental training of multidiscipline experts who
possess high adaptability to professional activities
During the whole history of the faculty about ten thousand electrical engineers, Bachelors, Masters were
graduated.
Graduates of the Power Engineering Faculty are able to work successfully at any power station in
the industry: at gene- rating stations, transit transmission and distribution of electricity; power supply
system of industrial and autonomous facilities; in the designing area, research, production and operation
of electric power, electro mechanic and electronic systems and their components; at heat and- power
engineering systems, and at installation and fixing, project and scientific research organizations of
energetic and other fields of national economy.

The faculty has a modern laboratory base and computer labs. There is the only Internet lab of
remote access in Central Asia. It provides an opportunity for auto- mated laboratory training with the
organization of multiuser access to the laboratory equipment of computer net- works. There are
laboratory-museum of electricity meters and measuring equipments and laboratory of Automated System
of Scientific Researches (ASSR) in electrical engineering. In 2013 the training ground on electric power
engineering was opened on the territory of the University. It will provide opportunity to the students to
practice their skills using the real equipment.

ADMISSION OF FOREIGN CITIZENS:
Admission of foreign citizens is carried out on the basis of internal entrance tests in the form of interview
and testing. We welcome foreign students to Kyrgyz State Technical University. I.Razzakov. You can find
a list of departments and programs offered at KSTU.

For admission to KSTU, applicants must submit:


1. Application of foreign citizen (Application Form).
2. Scanned copy of passport.
3. A scanned copy of the document on education (certificate, Diploma, bachelor’s degree, master’s
degree) and notarized translation of the documents or translation made by consulate of the
Kyrgyz Republic (if the documents in foreign language) with the indication of passed subjects and
scores;
4. A scanned copy of the transcript.
5. Application for visa support (if necessary).
6. Reference certificate suitable education document from the Ministry of Education and science of
the Kyrgyz Republic.
7. Medical Reference: Form # 086.
8. Reference HIV/AIDS, including a lack of Medical contraindications for study in Kyrgyz Republic;
9. Certificate of Russian language courses hold for foreign students.
10. Passport with a study-visa of the Kyrgyz Republic for foreign students coming from the countries,
which are the visa regime.

PREPARATION FOR ENTRANCE EXAMS: Russian language, chemistry, physics, mathematics and
biology with a certificate.
Classes start after a group of 6 people are accepted. Courses last for 9 months. Individual training
may be obtained in a shorter time period.
Among the listeners of preparatory courses, citizens of Egypt, Libya, China, Syria, Jordan, Turkmenistan
and other countries.
LIVING ACCOMMODATION
KSTU provides space in the hostel for international students. There are special rooms for foreigners in
hostel №1. 1 room seats 4 students. For foreign students the price is 3000 soms per month for a single
seat. Please let us know in advance if you wish to book a place in a hostel.

LYCEUM of KSTU named after I. Razzakov


Lyceum of KSTU is one of the first educational institutions of the "High School" system in Bishkek.
It was established in 1994, as an alternative version of a secondary school.
The number of students is about 200 people. KSTU Lyceum is a member of UNESCO Association,
approbating new forms of creative education in the system "school-University-post graduate school-
production". The main objective of the lyceum is to prepare the youth to enter the University. Students
study thoroughly such subjects as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Drawing, Computer Science, English
and Kyrgyz Languages.
Curriculums of these subjects were developed by Lyceum teachers jointly with instructors of
relevant departments of the University and were recommended to the Kyrgyz Republic secondary
schools.
New ideas and innovative technologies are realized by means of:
 innovative teaching methods;
 updating programs on general subjects;
 introduction of new disciplines and development of interdisciplinary ties.
More than 1500 students finished KSTU Lyceum and successfully continue their education in
Kyrgyzstan, CIS countries and Abroad.
For admission to Lyceum students must submit the following documents:
