II. TEACHER EDUCATION DEPARTMENT


Objectives of the BEED program:

1. To train BEED students to be competent, responsible and committed molders of the youth;
2. To equip students with knowledge and skills to be globally competitive;
3. To conduct research activities;
4. To sustain extension program needed for development ;and
5. To prepare instructional materials to enhance teaching effectiveness.

V. PROGRAM OUTCOMES: ( Based on CMO 74, Series of 2017 ).
A. Common to all programs in all types of schools.
The graduates have the ability to:
a. Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice. (PQF level 6 descriptor)
b. Effectively communicate in English and Filipino, both orally and in writing.

VII. SEMESTER/ SCHOOL YEAR OFFERED: 1st Semester, S.Y 2019-2020
VIII. COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course emphasizes the contents of Philippine History and Government that are necessary in teaching at the elementary level. Further,
appropriate teaching strategies and assessment methods shall be included to prepare students to become elementary grades teachers.
IX. COURSE CREDIT/UNIT: 3 units (3 hours every week for 18 weeks or 54 hours in a semester)
X. COURSE/SUBJECT OUTCOME:
At the end of the course the students should be able to:
1. Acquire adequate knowledge /methodologies how to teach Social Studies in elementary;
2. Identify education foundations of Social Studies
3. Develop the ability to be critical thinker and sense of nationalism, assessor; and
4. Appreciate moral and values integrated in the lessons.
5. Write a lesson plan using the teaching strategies and appropriate for teaching social studies in elementary.
6. Demonstrate interactive skills in Social Studies research, investigate, critical thinking, decision making, creativity, human-relation, communication;

XV. CLASSROOM POLICIES


1. ABSENCES. Maximum allowable cuts: 6 absences for 1.5 hours classes or 9 absences for 1 hour classes.
2. DDRESS CODE. The prescribed dress code for students of Teacher Education department should be strictly observed. A student not wearing proper attire will
be marked absent and not allowed to take quizzes, exam, etc.
3. PLAGIARISM. Each piece of assessable work must be demonstrably the student’s own. In this class, the copying, borrowing, or the unacknowledged use of
another person’s ideas or written language as one’s own whether published or unpublished. Any piece of work that is plagiarized in whole or in part will not be
assessed.
4. STUDENT HANDBOOK will serve as guide for all. Additional guidelines may be issued by individual faculty to respective classes.

Consultation hours will be announced individually by each lecturer, with a view to the concept of mentoring the ideas of the students. The students are encouraged to
