（4）两人谈论佛学，虽观点不同，但话语投机，谁也说服不了谁，谈文学，

却观点一致。此后两人多有书信交流，其深厚友谊一千多年来被传为佳话。

真谛法师在岭南
真谛(499—569)，梵名拘那罗陀，西印度优禅尼婆罗门族。少时博访众师，
学通内外，尤精于大乘之说。
真谛于南梁中大同元年（546 年）八月到达南海郡(今广东省南部)，随即北
上建业，得到梁武帝深加礼敬。随后因战乱，行踪漂浮不定。
(4) Although they had different views on Buddhism, they share the same tastes and interests, neither
of them could persuade the other, and they had the same opinions on literature. After that, they
exchanged letters, and their deep friendship has been sung for more than 1000 years.

Master Paramārtha is in Lingnan

Paramārtha (499-569), is a member of the Brahman race of Ujjayinī in West India. He visited many
teachers when he was young and was well-versed in Buddhism, and other knowledge, especially
was proficient in the theory of Mahāyāna.

In the first year of Nanliang dynasty (546) was Datong, Paramārtha arrived in Nanhai County (now
in the southern part of Guangdong Province), and then went north to Jianye, where the Emperor of
Liangwu sincerely honored him. Later, due to the war, his whereabouts fluctuated.
