Behavioural Assessment 1

Experience during the day and the subsequent learning: The fully packed day with loads of
information today gave us a glimpse of what lies ahead in the PGP Programme. With informative sessions
in the morning to a semi-formal class introduction session, the day seemed long and tiring, but informal
sessions of cake-cutting in the corridor and people showcasing their talent in their introduction, cheered us
all up. Discussion on the diversity of the batch gave us an insight into the potential that lies ahead in terms
of peer-to-peer learning. Current introspection allows me to see though a lot of observations and learnings
from the day. The sessions in the first half of the day were well structured and had kept buffer for any
session exceeding the intended time limit. Ethos of people who have already experienced the life, like the
one from Aprajita Sharma (former General Secretary), helped the audience relate with greater attention. It
was imperative to have sessions of utmost importance e.g. academic integrity to reemphasis even though
the consequences for the same are mentioned in the handbook. Sessions discussing the audience centric
content, like the one on scholarships, attracted greater number of ears. The informal conduct of the evening
self-introduction session allowed to break ice amongst the classmates in a quicker fashion.

Applicability in Planning and Organising: A thought-out flow of sessions in a chronological order is


necessary for the audience to grasp the maximum from the same. One has to provide adequate breaks in
between to break the monotony. Keeping buffer while planning sessions helps smooth conduct of all of
them. When only a limited number of sessions can be organised, the agenda should include topics that are
of utmost importance and are audience centric. It is imperative to keep the communication audience-
centric to have maximum attention and retention. It is equally important to reemphasize on important
aspects. The day ended with clear instructions for the next day, showcasing how clear communication for
the day ahead is necessary for clarity of thought for the audience. Above all, it was a great realisation that
time management will serve as a key, with multiple assignments, course on plagiarism and a case to read
for the next day.

Applicability in Team Work: Diversity in a team is very necessary for different opinions and
perspectives; I realised the potential from the peer-to-peer learning when the profile of the batch was
discussed in detail. As a team, it is always inspiring to interact with the people who have had similar
experiences, it brings about a greater sense of trust. In the evening, semi-formal interaction in class and
informal interaction otherwise helped for better bonding amongst the classmates. Informal interactions
helped a team, a class in this case, to know each other better in no time. However, maintaining a semi-
formal attitude in an official setting like classroom gives everyone an opportunity to speak-up.
Intersectional competition helped our section to come forward as a team, showing that healthy competition
acts in a positive way for the team.
