Four spheres of executive responsibility: -

 The commitments of Private Life –
Personal commitment is something that obligates us to perform a course of action or
take apposition. This morality of private life varies from person to person and displays
factors or characteristics that are individual and particular to the individual

Different people have different beliefs and commitments towards their work, families,
friendships and these commitments drive their actions in different circumstances.

For example- some may believe that social care is above the company rules for them and
hence they would align their actions accordingly

 The commitments of Economic agents-

This is the common obligation amongst many managers as they are continuously
reminded by their superiors to make profits for the company and take care of the
shareholders
In this, your actions will be primarily driven by the interests of the company and its
future
 Commitments as Company Leaders-
Responsibilities of employees and managers as the members of the company. As a
leader, I need to align my goals, mission and vision with the company’s agenda. My
sense of belongingness, achievement and contribution as a leader will inspire and
attract people. A team will be inspired by the conviction of the leader and believes in
him/her

 Responsibility beyond Firm’s Boundaries

Companies have a complex relationship with multiple stakeholders that get affected
by its decisions such as government agencies, customers, suppliers, competitors and
many more.
The company’s responsibility is not limited to its company boundaries rather the
boundary is quite blurred.

b. The problem of dirty hands is that there are two actions and probably both of them
are wrong but you have to choose one of them which will result in less wrong. One
has to think in a larger good and choose the option accordingly. One cannot keep his/
her hands clean. His/her hands will become dirty eventually but one can always be
mindful to conduct tasks that can mitigate the wrongdoing.

Not only we have to take the decision, rather we have to take responsibility for it. The
person making the choice may feel wracked with guilt and want forgiveness in
response to making his/her hands dirty. But the bigger duty and responsibility
towards people may force a leader to take such decisions which will dirty their hands
but it's then their choice how they attempt to alleviate it with their further actions
and relieve themselves from internal pain.

c. If one has to choose between wrong and very wrong, what will you choose and
how will you make that choice. What are the parameters you will consider before
making that choice?
Will, it be the welfare of a larger section that will drive you or your personal morality
will come into the picture.
Ethical dilemmas put us in such situations and force us to think of what to choose and
why?
d. The private life commitments form the basis of everything. I believe, it is the most
fundamental thing that a person holds and on the basis of these moralities, that is
very private and individualistic, everything is build.

A company is made up of people and it’s the motivation and effort of every employee
that contributes to the success and failure of an organization. This motivation is often
driven by the product of personal commitment and commitment towards their job or
work. This commitment towards a career won’t play a role unless the individual has
some personal promises which he/she wants to achieve and which probably drives
his/her internal happiness.

These personal commitments might get lesser attention because in day to day life we
chose to ignore our personal feelings and become busy in achieving larger goals,
company goals and career goals. This may be because ultimately nobody asks-are you
happy, people ask how is your career progressing?
