Advent CALendar – Day 7 Penguin

Materials

• Leftover of Yarn and Colors Must-have Black (100)
• Phildar Phil Nuage (flocon 1)
• Crochet hook no. 2,5mm
• Stuffing

Crochet Pattern Penguin

Head

Round 1: With Phildar Phil Nuage sc. 6 in a magic ring or start the following way; ch. 2, sc. 6 in the 1st
ch. and end with sl.st. 1 in the 1st sc. such that you’ll get a round of 6 sts. (6 sts.)
Round 2: Sc. 2 in each st. (12 sts.)
Round 3: Sc. 2 in each 2nd st. (18 sts.)
Round 4: Sc. 18 (18 sts.)
Round 5: Sc. 1, *sc. 2 in the next st., sc. 2* Repeat from *to* until the end of the round but end with
sc. 1 (24 sts.)
Rounds 6 - 8: Sc. 24 in each round (24 sts.)
Round 9: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 3rd and 4th st. tog. (18 sts.)
Round 10: Sc. 18 (18 sts.)
Round 11: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 2nd and 3rd st. tog. (12 sts.) Stuff the head firmly.
Round 12: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 2 sts. tog. (6 sts.) Cast off and draw the end yarn through the last 6
sts. and pull it tight.

Black part of the head

Round 1: With Yarn and Colors Anthracite sc. 6 in a magic ring or start the following way; ch. 2, sc. 6 in
the 1st ch. and end with sl.st. 1 in the 1st sc. such that you’ll get a round of 6 sts. (6 sts.)
Round 2: Sc. 2 in each st. (12 sts.)
Round 3: Sc. 2 in each 2nd st. (18 sts.)
Round 4: Sc. 18 (18 sts.)
Round 5: Sc. 1, *sc. 2 in the next st., sc. 2* Repeat from *to* until the end of the round but end with
sc. 1 (24 sts.)
Row 6: Sc. 4. Tch. 1, turn your work.
Row 7: Sc. the first and last 2 sts. tog. (2 sts.) Tch. 1, turn your work.
Row 8: Sc. the last 2 sts. tog. (1 st.) Cast off and weave in the ends.

Cast on a new yarn of Anthracite in round 6, three sts, from the little point you’ve just made.
Rows 1 - 3: Sc. 14 (14 sts.) Tch. 1, turn your work.
Row 4: Sc. the first and last 2 sts. tog. (12 sts.) Tch. 1, turn your work.
Row 5: Sc. the first and last 2 sts. tog. (10 sts.) Tch. 1 and work a round of sc. around the head. Ch. 1 in
the corners. Attach this part on top of the head and sew it with a few small stitches. Attach the little
point at the front until round 7 of the head.

Beak
With colour Old Pink ch. 5.
Round 1: Sc. 4, ch. 1 and continue on the other side of the foundation chain. Sc. 4. Fold the sc. double
and attach the little beak on the front of the head with a few small stitches.

Embroider two little eyes with Yarn and Colors Black.

Scarf

The little scarf will be worked in rows. After each 2 rows change colours. Don’t cast off after a colour
change but continue with the same yarn. This way you don’t need to weave in the ends.

Start with colour Red Wine ch. 4. Change colour to Olive after two rows.
Rows 1 - 46: Sc. 3. Tch. 1 and turn your work. You’ll work 23 stripes in total. Cast off and weave in the
ends.

Fold the ends of the scarf over each other and se wit with a few small stiches. Attach the scarf around
the bottom of the head of the penguin.
