COMPARISON

How to make comparison between two or more things ( or persons ) has been mention briefly
in the spoken circle. Here are more explanations on the forms and the usage of compartives
and superlatives degree.

The form of regular comparatives and superlatives.

Adjective Form Comparatives Superlatives


Only one syllable, Add - R: Add – ST:
ending in E.
Examples: wide, Wider, Cuter, Finer Widest, Cutest, Finest

Only one syllable, Double the consonant, Double the the

Comparative and Superlative yang berasal dari kata sifat yang bersuku kata satu dibentuk
dengan menambahkan “er” atau “est”.

Contoh:

Comparative dan Superlative yang berasal dari kata sifat (Adjective) yang bersuku kata 3 atau
lebih dibentuk dengan menambahkan “more” atau “most”.

Contoh:

Beautiful more beautiful most beautiful
Handsome more handsome most handsome
Expensive more expensive most expensive

Untuk Menyatakan persamaan positif, kita dapat menggunakan rumus:


As…….adjective…….as
Contoh: My house is as big as his

The same….Noun….as
Contoh: My house is the same size as his.

Untuk menyatakan persamaan negatif, kita dapat menggunakan rumus:


Not as/so…as
Contoh: My house is not as big as his.
