under the guardianship of her step mother, Lady
Dambnait (DEV-nawi), Shortly ater her father's death,
(Cara began helping her step mother to keep the shoe
shop running... After a while her recurring act of
‘empathy transformed into-a daily ritual of guilt and
exhaustion and Cara found herself working in Slavelike
conditions at the shop. A‘ the end of each laborious day,
Cara is sent out to a rickety cabin atthe edge of the
family property near the edge of towng’There, not only is
her step mother free from seeing the gil’s dingy
appearance, but Cara herselt is ree t0 find peace in the
Quiet of the forest as well as companionship with the
night time ereatures. She has bravely decided to keep
