The Amal Career-Prep Fellowship: Syllabus

Overview
The goal of the Amal Fellowship is prepare graduating university students for the workplace, specifically by
enabling them to develop their professional and business skills (e.g., communication, teamwork, leadership,
and problem-solving). We will focus first on developing the skills needed to get a job and secondly on the
skills needed to excel once on the job.

Amal Fellows
The Amal Fellow is someone the Amal team has uniquely selected because we believe they have the
passion to improve themselves, they are willing to work hard to achieve their goals, and they have the
humility to realize that it will take a team effort in order to achieve their dreams.

We have had over 10,000 applicants for the Amal Career-Prep Fellowship, and we will have selected
approximately 4000 Amal Fellows.

Fellowship Learning Outcomes
Our focus in this Amal Fellowship is to collaborate with each individual Fellow in order to develop his/her
skills. Specifically, our goal is that -- at the end of the Fellowship -- each Amal Fellow will be able to do the

Fellowship Results
Through hard work and persistence, the Amal Fellows have been able to secure quality jobs after
completing the Fellowship: Within three months, over 80% of Amal Fellows looking for jobs have been able
to secure quality jobs.

It’s important to note, however, that this tremendous success is not because Amal is providing the Fellows
references or placement, but because the Fellows are working extremely hard to develop their skills and
apply for jobs. In fact, of all the Fellows that have gotten jobs after the program, only about 20% of those
jobs have been at companies where Amal Academy has a relationship.

Fellowship Projects
Each week there will be approximately 5-6 hours of online courses and project work. These projects are
critical, as Fellows cannot expect to develop skills without applying them outside of the classroom. If ideas
are not applied, then they simply remain ideas; but if they are applied/practiced, then they become skills.

For example, the following is a summary of the project work for session 5 - 6 (which covers resumes, cover
letters, and business writing):

● Activity: C reating Your #SuperHeroResume
● Activity: Apply for a position on Rozee.PK using a customized resume and cover letter
● Activity: A pply the 5 steps for an Incredible Cover Letter in order to create a
#superpartnercoverletter
● Business writing: A pply Amal’s Guide to Business Writing to your own writing
