Introduction :

WHAT IS HABITAT CENTRE ?

• The term habitat stands for ecology and includes many
interrelated features, specially the immediate physical
environment, the urban environment or the social
environment. So a habitat centre is a place that brings
individual institutions and organizations together to increase
their efficiency.

• A Habitat Centre is an arena for contemporary

cultural,economic,business and social events . It functions
and create an ambience which works as the functional
backbone of the complex.It not only provides an improved
working environment to the usersbut also contribute to the
urban level functions that a living city require the most.

• This complex should be conceived and acquired as an ideal

physical environment with a range of facilities that maximize
the effectiveness of the individuals and institutions. The
Principle resolve the center to be mainly the design at every
level,both the environment and the ecological sides, thus
creating a harmonious and improved way of life.

Aim & Objectives:

Aim of the Project :

The Primary aim of the centre is to develop and provide necessary infrastructure and
environment to organizations working with issues pertaining to habitat.
Objectives :
• To create an urban level infrastructure with an environment oriented space that can
redefine the essence of life in that region.
• To compile various functional and architectural features into a integrated complex.
• To develop an integrated environment where various features and facilities can be
incorporated for various kind of users.
• To create a balanced and interactive sessional regions for the institutes and the
users in order to resolve various habitat related issues and problems.
• To design a well ergonomic and interactive workspace for the users.
• To inculcate better awareness and sensitivity in regards to all aspects of human
creativity including the significance of art and architecture of the complex.
• To promote education, training and professional development on the habitat and
human settlement and all the environment.
• To design a space that can document all relevant information related to the habitat
space, human settlement and environmental issues.

Project Beneficiaries And Need:
• To create a largest complex which can accommodate people for variety activities
where one could work , eat and enjoy as well.
• Govt. of telengana need a complex to enhance their cultural tradition , that why govt.
needs this proposal.
• Telangana after becoming a state needs such spaces which depicts their identity.

Scope :
Study of functional aspects of the building and relating to its aesthetics. The idea behind
the project is to understand the interaction of built and open spaces to inculcate ideas
related top art and technology to promote the level of interactivity. The buildings are
designed along with the ground level patterns. The entire building complex
encompasses a non-vehicular space and central plaza. The buildings are oriented,
placed and designeding accordance with the principles of ‘KATABATIC Downhill Wind
Pattern’ and ‘Vortex Force’ of microclimate theory. Thus keeping a balanced temperature
within the central space.

Limitation :
• Functional Utility of the project was not possible
• Details and design particularly to cultural and tradition was not possible.

METHODOLOGY :
SITE STUDY
To analyze the site with respect to location, climatology, physiography,
surrounding, historical background of that region, on the basis of which
design has to be done.

LITERATURE STUDIES
(Case studies to be done so as to be clear about the functionality of the project &
come out from the merits & demerits aspect of the project.)

CASE STUDIES
(The study is either from the books or from the internet to clear out more concepts
and can do research on the topic and extract inferences from these literature
studies.)
REQUIREMENTS FRAMING AND AREA ANALYSIS
The requirements areas framed out and area chart has to be finalize.

• The Building falls under the category Public / Semi-Public Building.
• Maximum height of the building = 32m
• 2m wide green strip plantation is to be provided around the site.
• Setbacks :
Front = 18 m
Rear = 9 m
Side = 9 m
• Basement Setback : 3m from all sides
• 10% of parking should be allotted for visitor’s parking
• Basement ramp should be width min. 3.6 m if one way , 5.4 in two way
• Slope of the basement ramp should be min 1:6
• 10% of totaol plot size should be dedicated for hardscape and soft landscape.
• Incase the sites in vicinity of any high tension electricity lines ,maintain a distance
of 1m and 1.5 from low tension lines.
