Has now begun rehearsals in preparation for the Carol service on 19 December. If you wish

Abney Run / Saturday Café

Mission Prayer Meeting
An hour of prayer for our church and community next Monday at 12
noon. Please join us if you can whether in body or spirit.
Friends of Avondale Family Fun Night!
This is a big party to celebrate our combined success in the face of a
threatened closure and ongoing success of Avondale! The Party
starts at 7pm on Saturday 4th of December at Avondale. There will be live music,
refreshments, games and activities for children and much, much more! This is a free event
and is open to everyone in the local community. Come along, celebrate and show your
support! We look forward to seeing you, invite your friends and family and please spread
the word that Avondale is open for business!

No Limits Café
A partnership between St Mary’s Church and Age Concern
Stockport. Providing a
meeting place for people of all ages with various levels of
memory problems or dementia, their families and carers.
Various activities will be on offer, or simply come for a cuppa
and a chat—a safe place to be with people who understand! If
you know anyone who would like the social connections and support, bring them along! It
started on Friday 26 November 1-3pm in the Upper Room and runs fortnightly. (Closed on
Christmas Eve, but reopening Friday 7th January 2011). Further information from Andy

Ladies Christmas Meal
Ladies please put Saturday 18 December in your diaries for this year’s Christmas Meal in
church. A Saturday was chosen to make it easier for those who work during the week and
then have to cook for families as well as prepare/cook food to bring to the Ladies Meal,
also the ladies who bravely stay behind to clear up and tidy away don’t have to get up early
for work the next morning (just church!). A sign up sheet will be available soon.
St Cuthbert’s Christmas Lunch
As last year we will be serving a turkey lunch with all the trimmings after the service on
Christmas day. This is open to any-one. If you would like to help or attend or know some-
one who would like to come see Tricia or Julie.

Festival of Flowers 24-26 June 2011
'A word in Season' promises to be a very exciting
event. It will use flowers to interpret passages of
Scripture and bring God's word to the people of
Cheadle, and surrounding area, in an attractive way.
Please pray that the Flower team will be inspired by the Holy Spirit to choose the passages
wisely and interpret them in such a way that they will be meaningful and unforgettable.
Christmas Cards
The "St Cuthbert's Silver Christmas Tree" will soon be up in the foyer again for church-
based Christmas cards. Instead of sending loads of cards to church members, just put one on
the silver tree to everyone, and put a donation in the wooden box. We sent £120 to Bible-
lands last year supporting needy children in the Holy Land & would like to send even more
this year.

The latest news for prayer and information is available in the Foyer today
Re-cycling / Church waste
We have ordered a blue and brown wheelie to replace the
large green ones which be collected at the same time as
the other domestic re-cycling. We have also been
promised a visit from an SMBC representative who will
assess our needs and determine how many black general
waste/ green food waste bins we will be allocated. In the
interim, SMBC has kindly agree to keep collecting our
black bags. Looking to the future, we will obviously
want to minimise our waste – have a look at the picture -
and so would all activity leaders be thinking about how
they can make best use of the re-cycling facilities that
will soon be available.
